20 Indian fishermen held over encroaching Pak waters

KARACHI: Officials hailing from Maritimes Security Agency (MSA) have claimed arresting at least twenty Indian fishermen over encroaching Pakistani water premises while four fishing vessels were also seized from their possession, MSA sources said late on Monday.

Spokesman to MSA told Geo news, twenty Indian fishermen, boarding four fishing vessels, encroached Pakistani waters and were busy catching fish within Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) where Pakistani fishermen alone allowed to carry out fish-catching activities. MSA officials arrested them over violation of Pakistani water limits.

They, following arrests, were moved to Karachi where they will be handed over to Docks police after necessary investigation, spokesman added

I dont get this. why do our and indian fishermen keep going into other territory? There should be a proper and solid solution for these problems because most of the time innocent fishermen from both sides become target of our politics.

I remember there was this one fishermen who was rott!ng in indian jail for over 30 years before he was returned to pakistan. This should stop seriously!

Sir Creek is the border line that is not clearly demarcated. India wants a midline border while Pakistan says that the channel is not navigable and should be negotiated. The importance of the line is that it stretches far out onto the sea -and that seabed contains oil and gas (supposedly). On top of it, the Creek itself has shifted positions, to Pakistan detriment.
So no one wants to settle and fishermen get into trouble.
