Wrong. The Uyghurs are the majority population in the Tarim basin as they have been for hundreds of years. The area where most Han are in Xinjiang is Dzungharia, and the native Dzunghar BUDDHIST Mongols are almost extinct.

As for "starting their revolution", the Soviet Union tried doing that in 1944 and supplying the Second East Turkestan Republic with guns and support. And their attempt eventually failed. Hui Muslims and Salar Muslims fought against the Soviet backed Uyghurs. In 1933 when Pan Turkist Uyghur rebels tried to establish the First East Turkestan Republic, they were defeated in 1934 by Hui Muslims and their separatist republic collapsed.
