Srinagar: Two civilians have been killed after Pakistani troops opened fire in a ceasefire violation at Charunda village in Uri sector along the LOC.

According to the Indian Army, Pakistani troops fired mortar shells killing two civilians, including a 15-year-old boy.

The Army says that Pakistani troops have engaged in firing from 3 October and Indian troops have now decided to retaliate. Firing is presently on between the troops in that sector.

Instead of complaining IA can open fire/throw shells at enemy position at Siachin such move will facilitate the chance to see another Gayari like incident.

.
I doubt that the Pakistan Army would start pelting mortars into enemy territory without any particular reason, let's wait for a statement by ISPR to confirm the incident and the story behind it. RIP to the Dead.....

You do realize your troops hold the opposite sides of the same water shed right? Unless DRDO has developed a selective targeting avalanche, your guys will probably die as a result of this tactically unsound and thoroughly unprofessional crackpot theory.

IA positioning on the top of Siachin glacier with logistics advantage such support lacks in Pakistan army position(below/around those glaciers). Those who occupying highest point they having strategic advantage its military basics so your point is invalid.

It's not one continuous plain up there genius! It's a collection of peaks and watersheds that are held by both sides at random. The peak right beside Tiger Hill is held by Pakistan.......So your point is invalid! Check mate.

This will certainly increase the insecurity felt by people on both sides of the border.I hope better sense prevails on both sides.

I have to say that our sensible guys are more sensible than Pakistan's sensible guys, but we manage to undo this advantage with great ease. Our idiots are bigger idiots than Pakistani idiots.

Idiot of the Day Award.

No one said it was without a particular reason- they were most likely providing cover for another infiltration attempt as has happened so many times in the past.

Pak troops violate ceasefire, kill 3 civilians in mortar shelling in Uri - The Times of India

Pakistani troops fired two 80mm rockets in an unprovoked ceasefire violation at Lambardar village in Uri sector of Baramulla district," official sources said.

One of the shells landed in a civilian area, resulting in the death of three persons, the sources said.

The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Shafi (25), Liyaqat Ahmad (15) and Shaheena Akhtar (16), they said, adding that Liyaqat was hit when he was going to his school for appearing in 8th standard annual examination.

A local resident told over phone that Pakistani troops had over the past few days objected to construction of a forward post by the Army and sought a halt on the work.

However, as the construction work was going on even today, the Pakistani troops started firing towards the Indian side, the residents said.

Although small weapon firing in the area has been going on for past several days, it was for the first time since the ceasefire came into effect in November 2003 that mortars were fired from across the LoC, they said.

India and Pakistan agreed on a ceasefire along the LoC and international border in November 2003 as a confidence building measure.

Although it has held good by and large, there have been dozens of violations by Pakistani troops, especially in Poonch-Rajouri range along the LoC and Samba along the international border in Jammu region.

In the last 15 violations, the Pakistan Army has been the side to violate cease-fire... 0 times. Yes, that's right. The last violation, Indian side fired Mortars and HMG into Pakistani side which resulted in 6 civilian casualties which included 2 women and 3 children.

Indian Media:
Pakistan Army as usual defies the LoC and fires into Indian territory, as a result, Indian forces are pounding heavily on Pakistani posts. We shall not tolerate anything.

First half Pakistani Media:
Pakistan Army has once again defied the SOP at the LoC and engaged Indian posts. Due to this shameless act, General Kiyani and all the Corp Commanders must be fired and the budget cut.

Second half Pakistani Media:
Indian forces violate peace, fire into Pakistan and injured n number of civilians.

Indian Army:
This act is unacceptable and we have called white flag meeting, and, will not tolerate anyone who dares challenge us.

ISPR:
Pakistan did NOT violate the cease-fire. At 0000 hours, at post CP XXXX, X Sector, the Indian Army opened fire into the Pakistani territory at the village named X. Pakistani forces arrived on the scene at 0030 hours from post CP XXXX which is XX kilometers away, and are engaging with the enemy, pounding the posts. (Provides more details to prove who violated the cease-fire.. PS. They agree and apologize when it's our fault, providing a well-defined reason).

Indian Army
: Yes, that is what happened, our forces mistook the moving civilians to be soldiers preparing for invasion in the darkness of the night.

This is what always happens, generally. In the last 2 years, no more than 15% of the violations were initialized by Pakistan. Proves for itself.

Are these Just brain farts or is there anything else backing this up apart from the fudged up nonsense coming out of ISPR??

Everybody knows the purpose of this seize fire violations, so it's obvious that who starts it.

.
May be possible that IA/BSF was giving cover fire to few surjeet singhs/sarabjeet singhs/bangladeshis to infiltrate into pakistans and carry out subversive activities there>Few months back only Pak rangers arrested some bangladeshis on indo-pak border.

My dear ajtr, wash your mouth with holy water, let it be known to you, Mr Noble and Snow white are both buried side by side in the land of peace and tranquillity called India, hence no such untowards activity can ever materialise from there.
