A Nishant UAV of the Indian Army crashed today at the Chandan Village in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer District -- the first service accident involving the indigenous surveillance platform. A test UAV platform crashed in around the same area a few years ago. A technical snag forced Army operators to attempt an emergency parachute assisted landing, but as these photographs show, things didn't work out, the Nishant sustained severe damage.

Seems that parachute did deploy but cudnt blossom properly. Also lots of composite is apparently used in this very UAV (Nothing to do with the crash).

Looks like the parachute deployed but at a low height, hence could not be effective.
