Here's an excellent interview form the BBC conversing with PAF pilots during the war. Note how Indians claim to have shot many of them down.

The ground reality was that Pakistan was winning the war and would have eventually taken Srinagar if it wasn't for India crossing international borders to escalate things. In which they were repelled after that too and that too caught Pakistan off guard.

Asghar Khan (first native Chief of Air Staff of the Pakistan Air Force) explaining the lesser-known facts of the 1965 India-Pakistan war. at the credentials of this guy - recipient of 'Hilal-i-Pakistan' and 'Hilal-i-Quaid-i-Azam' , that he had the integrity relinquish. Only because of Asghar Khans modernisation drive of PAF, can PAF now boast of some successes in 1965. And then making PIA one of the best in the world.

Lol I can post Indian generals about Kargil and it wouldn't be any different. Everybody wants and has a modernization drive. The reality was different. Nur Khan was the CAS at the time any way

Question What use airforce if they can't Win War
Even in 1965 Pakistan Air Force can't prevent indian forces from capturing PAF territory in Lahore Front

Biggest example is
Battle of Burki in lahore Front Even with Air-support of 10 F-86 Sabre PA can't able two prevent Indian Advances

Although Pakistan Army fought Bravely

If i had not mentioned before the military was completley suprised. No one was ready for this attack so it was obvious that there was land going to be lost. The use of fighters against ground troops instead of bombers, and the use of mounted machine guns and ground strafing instead of bombs and missiles, meant that little was achieved through air support. But that still did not help the indins from taking 1 inch of lahore yet india almost lost amritsar even with the odds against PA. Action without detailed planning is fatal. Yet we recovered. The fact that India needed to use an all out assault is evidence of it's struggle in Kashmir. They needed to stretch the already tiny Pakistan army somehow.

and than this happened:

1965 War, the Inside Story by R.D. Pradhan:

In Chapter 8 titled "Of Cowardice and Panic", the author describes the cowardice of Maj. Gen. Niranjan Prasad, the Indian general commanding officer in Lahore sector. When the general was fired upon by Pakistani forces, he "ran away". "On learning that, Lt. Gen. Harbakash Singh and the corps commander drove in a Jonga to the battlefront. Army commander found that the enemy (PAF) air attack had created a havoc on G.T. Road. (Indian) Vehicles were burning and several vehicles of 15 Division abandoned on the road, the drivers having run away, leaving some of the engines still running. Maj. Gen. Niranjan Prasad was hiding in a recently irrigated sugar cane field. As described by Harabakash Singh: "He (Prasad) came out to receive us, with his boots covered with wet mud. He had no head cover, nor was he wearing any badges of his rank. He had stubble on his face, not having shaved." Seeing him in such a stage, Harbakhash Singh asked him: "Whether he was the General Officer commanding a division or a coolie? Why had he removed badges of rank and not shaved? Niranjan Prasad had no answer."

You know we can do this all day :) and I can post similar pics. Till next 6 September we'll continue this discussion. :D

India actually attacked Pakistan almost 2 weeks after Gibraltar, and never said they attacked Pakistan for that reason at the time. There was almost 2 weeks of peace, but out of the blue they declared war. Very strange behaviour if you ask me.

The interesting thing in the war was that whenever Pakistani soldiers captured Indian weapons and ammo, they used it against them. For infantry units, MG ammo, barrels and belts, mortar ammo and ammo for small calibre weapons.

The supplied ammo in some Pakistani units was just enough for a ten days war, especially artillery units. Most of the time, captured ammo from indians of same calibre gun as used against indians.
To conserve the ammo in Air defence units, the belt was 50% loaded with bullets, keeping one space vacant after loading each bullet. Even then AD units scored hits against IAF aircrafts.
Captured Indian trucks were helpful in fulfilling mobility needs and captured or destroyed Indian tanks sometimes fulfilled fuel requirements.

For Pakistani forces, it was mostly facing an enemy with strength sometimes upto 5 times larger than own. Pakistani Company faced Indian battalions, battalions faced Brigades, Brigades faced divisions.
This made Pakistani soldiers more tenacious in defending homeland against the cowardly attack at night by Indians.

That's were you Wrong Read
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Chawinda

Pakistan Lost more than Over 518 km2 (218 mi2) of territory lost Before Halt At Chawinda ,Lahore

Wrong.
Pakistan got its territory back.

Read.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tashkent_Declaration

The Tashkent conference, under United Nations, American and Soviet pressure, compelled India to give away the conquered region in Pakistan and the 1949 ceasefire line in Kashmir.

India Failed to grab anything.
