Mumbai has something called as cooperative societies act and Model bye law, there is election for each society to select chairman, secretary.. these are generally everyday uncles who have Absolutely no idea what MCS act is and they pass resolutions in meetings that have no legal value- like dogs not allowed in elevator, no plants on window / balcony, no meat eater allowed in Jain Society (including hindu's).. you get the idea..

Either ways, after spending USD 700 to 1500 per square feet people expect peace of mind, hence irrational decisions. Irrespective of race, religion etc we are not allowed to sell our property without consulting/informing our neighbors. Some places like lodha altamount, even if you pay 2x, they don't sell u the property. I like the "dogs not allowed in lifts" ( or anywhere else ), and the "no plants in window" ( I suppose for practical purpose ) but taking it to the extreme of barring religions or regionalities even for milk vendors is not fair. How then can Bombay be called a cosmopolitan city ? Imagine if these things were done in another big city like New York ?

But leave that aside. What I want is a progressive India where religion does not form divide. And one random thing. The UCC should be ideally acceptable to Indian Muslims because its implementation / laws will be similar to Islamic laws. Further, it will have my double support if general communist principles are applied ( Example, land becoming a public resource. This will remove almost all of the land disputes in India ).

Raj is literally our neighbor man it does not happen through-out mumbai. Anyways we leave our religion at home, on streets we are regular mumbaikars.. Muslims distribute sweets when lalbaughcha raja comes to byculla also perform aarti. My friend sadiq sheikh was treasurer of tardeo cha raja in 2018. hindus go to makhdoom baba also join urs celebration. Even mount mary fair you will find 90% people are muslims and hindus only 10% are Christians I always find this funny, Christians must feel like we hijack their festival.

Now it is different how a large part of majority religion people sees Muslims...with indoctrination from Sanghis, they see Muslims as aggressors, invaders and Jihadis, earlier what is called as appeasement was the right thing as minorities do need some perk and privileges, now they are alienated and at the fringe, not the rich class though.

The new normal has also led to Muslims view of India changed, again not for the better, they find themselves not owing the land and country, perceived as tenants and not loyal to India, which is not true...again this is a generalized view, there must be exceptions.

Regressive in the sense of supporting a right-wing party through votes. As for regressive in internal cultural practices I don't know much about them. Here, I see the older women wearing chadors. I don't know about the younger women and the men.
