London, Aug 23 (IANS) An 18-year-old British Indian boy has become Britain's brightest student after getting perfect fives in all major subjects with 100 percent score, a media report said.

Asanish Kalyanasundaram, who hails from Lancahsire in northwest England, got the highest possible grades in maths, physics, chemistry, biology and critical thinking, as required at A-Levels in Britain, the Daily Mail reported Tuesday.

Kalyanasundaram, an aspiring surgeon, will be going to Cambridge University to study medicine in October.

A spokesman for Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School said the teenager was one of the brightest pupils they have taught.

Asanish received an A* grade in an Extended Project Qualification, following a 100-hour research topic and presentation after attending a summer school run by the Nuffield Foundation, where he was able to work at the cutting edge of medical research.

The talented student recently won the Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award and will receive the award from Queen Elizabeth II's husband Prince Philip at St. James Palace in London in November.

He has also been invited by Lancashire County Council to attend a reception for Gold Award winners.

Why would someone aspire to be a surgeon if they have such great scientific capability.

One of my colleagues older brother went down the same path and regrets it to the day.

Surgeons are not the brightest members of society - it is scientists.

Dude should become a physicist and see whether he has it in him to become the next Hawkings.

Exactly, My parents pressured my brother to take up medicine or engineering, but he was more interested in pure science.

Well done young man! He looks brainy.

I'm confused as to why he is called Britain's brainiest boy, when has never competed in the child genius championships.

This year they were dominated by South Asians. It was won by a South Indian Muslim girl haha. Another southern person.

I'll put up a thread.
