It even oversee the very strategic highway to Siachen and to all indian posts, this highway is the lifeline for indian troops, especially in Siachen. In case of next war, Pakistan will block any supplies to Siachen and posts in the region by destroying this highway. After 71, kargil was needed to slap you back to your senses.

The Indian Army, which made several unsuccessful attempts to occupy the post after the Kargil war, has since given up the post as "untenable" given the geography of the region that makes it fairly easy for Pakistani troops to climb.

What makes Point 5353 so valuable for the two armies is that it has a clear view of the national highway that connects the Kashmir valley with Kargil. Yes Pakistan lost 71 due to the territory surrounded by enemy from all sides including air and sea where Soviets (super power) was deployed to block Pakistan's supply and any help. Not to mention the 0.5 million plus terrorists of mutkia and a hostile population that knows each alleyway. On top of that around 1.5 lakh plus indian troops with full supply lines and air support. All this against just 34,000 to 46,000 Pakistani troops. Even Somalia can register such easy victory. Unlike Kargil. Lets wish you have many more Kargil like victories. No other highways including that nonsense manali one can replace this highway. The new highway badly gets damage due to landslides, etc. Heavy snawfall too makes it impossible to travel and highway remains close for months just cuz of snow. That old highway not only serves as important artery to Leh but also to Siachen.

Pakistan cares about land? Lol it has been 71 years and I am a Pakistani national and I cannot buy land is Kashmir because I am not allowed to do so by law. If I want to invest in Kashmir I have to lease land there from local kashmiri and not buy it. So I think this tells a lot about Pakistani wanting land.

There is Iok "indian occupied kashmir" and then there is "azad kashmir" which is with Pakistan. Azad = freedom
