150 Locomotives for Pakistan Railways get a 3rd party transparency comittee

Isn't it shameful for Pakistan that more than 60 years have passed, we can't even develop our own locomotive?:hitwall:

Time to rise up, if Pakistan can build Battle Tanks, why not Locomotives?

No need to worry all financial arrangements have already been planned , its part of their bid

Also we have option for Purchasing from China as well

and we also have third option to get leased Locomotives (separate deal with India) that is a separate deal

The deal specifies 150 locomotives , direct purchase ready to go
The deal with India is for 50 lease of locomotives , which is a supplemental deal

And 96 Local Locomotives will be repaired so Railways should have their 200-300 Locomotives which should improve performance

The advantage with General Electric (GE, US) deal is that these locomotives will be certified by Anti pollution and Eco friendly companies ensuring that the product we will get will be

a) Top performer
b) Ample support with parts
c) Environment friendly and fuel efficient

American product is also has hybrid option to run on electrical batteries and/or diesal which would save money on importing diseal

I think this is copied locomotive of Indian Railways the same green locomotive are being manufacturing at Varanashi plant with jv with same company GE.

DLW Varanasi is doing licensed production of GE and Alco locomotives.

Currently DLW is producing EMD GT46MAC and EMD GT46PAC locomotives under license from Electro-Motive Diesels (formerly GM-EMD) for Indian Railways.

I was an intern in western railway at mumbai and all i noticed was that though many people in railway are corrupt they work too much hard to keep everything on track...quality problems are everywhere in world but everyone in indian railways from the ground level worker to high level officers work so much hard...most of these officers are in their 50s but they always were eager to learn new things from us...i was astonished with the amount of hard work they put in everything...If you guys get officers and workers like these then only pakistan railway will progress.

I think Pakistan railways suffer from Education or lack of it in the candidates

It really needs 3,000-10,000 new generation ground level first grade officers , and ever one else need to retire out

The current strategy for railways is that it seeks bail out and then pays its salaries , its like a perpetual begging corporation that has to change its a shame with client base of 180,000,000 million people it is in current state

General Eelectric has proposed brand new Locomotives for Pakistan

Its not GE, its money that Pakistan must come out with.

India makes its own locomotives...
India licence produce its locos.Pakistan too can do it.

This is one thing which goes unnoticed... You will easily find DSTE near a signal pole or, ASTE running towards the station in case of a signal failure..Even Minor derailment shakes up the whole division..Corruption is there but so is hard work and willingness to learn..Only if the ministers were a little better, Railways would have been a different case altogether..

No crown corporation in Pakistan is about to make any money no matter how much money is spend on it Railways is a complete monopoly and they cant make money its not the engines that's the problem its the drivers and i don't mean the guys driving the engine.

LoL and how is the Ministers and his family going to make money out of that who will give them commission.

even in this deal they could ask the companies that the engines must be put together in Pakistan for the sale to go through do u see any where any body asking for that no cause ministers cant get commission.
