The people are the same and they are now Muslims. The civilizations remain, despite being Hindu, being Buddhist or being Muslim.

New cities came up. New seals were developed. New power was developed which actually throws fire from the skies, which the ancients would talk about.

The UN said Pakistani troops would have to withdraw leaving behind the local security apparatus, as that would be any different from Pakistani troops.

And all of indian troops were not to stay, only the prescribed numbers and the rest would have had to withdraw.

India was the once who wanted the poll - just like there was one in Junagadh. India was the one who took it to the UN. You are the ones who refused to abide by the UN rules. You wanted to avoid the vote.

Yes we rose with Hindu Growth rate, only recently bit more, etc etc - bottomline is that India as a country has greater literacy than Pakistan and greater per capita income than Pakistan and a better HDI than Pakistan. This when both got independence at the same time.

The only thing we lag behind in are some social indicators - hopefully by the end of this decade, we'd have surpassed Pakistan in each one of that as well.
