1. Khajjiar
Situated at the foothills of the Dhauladhar, nestled in the lap of the Himalayas, Khajjiar bears a striking resemblance to the topography of Switzerland- the quintessential example of a romantic destination. It is located at a height of about 2000 meters above sea level. You can see dense forests and meadows all around in Khajjiar, with snow capped peaks of Himalayas in the distance. The best time to visit the place would be during the summer months when it is not too cold and the hill station is adorned with some really pretty flowers.
2. Chandertal Lake
Located between the magnificent Himalayan valleys of Lahual and Spiti, at an altitude of about 4300 meters above sea level is the Chandertal Lake. The crystal clear waters of the lake will not fail to mesmerize you. The lake is the source of River Chandra, and hence, it is sometimes referred to as the Moon Lake as well. During the summer months, you can take a trek to the lake and be amazed at the natural beauty. But before you take the trek, be prepared for some huffing and puffing, for you will need to cross some really high mountain passes.
3. Sar Pass
Located in the Parvati Valley of Kullu is the Sar Pass. It is a popular trekking destination for those looking for a challenge and an adrenaline rush. The place gets its name from a small, frozen lake which is the highlight of the Sar Pass Trek. At a height of about 14,000 meters above sea level, you can expect a serene atmosphere and plenty of time to enjoy the beauty of the mountains. Not many people brave the challenge and trek to this place, which makes it great for people looking for some lone time.
4. Rohtang Pass
When talking of most beautiful places in India, you cannot leave out Rohtang Pass. The name of the place literally translates to “pile of corpses.” It got that name because of the many people who lost their life while trying to cross the pass in the past. However, today, it attracts thousands of tourists every year with its mesmerizing charm and beauty. It is one of the few destinations in India where skiing in possible. It is covered with snow for most parts of the year. The pass remains closed for 6 months in an year. For the rest of the year, you can expect a swarm of people, all eager to experience the thrill and adventure of this 13,000 feet high pass.
5. Suraj Tal Lake
Located very close to Baralacha La Pass is the Suraj Tal Lake, also known as the Lake of the Sun God. It is one of the highest lakes in India and the 21st highest in the world. An important part of Lahual and Spiti Valley, you will hardly find a soul if you manage to trek to this amazing lake. You will be greeted with sights of glaciers, almost polar conditions and silence in which you can hear even a pin drop. Suddenly, you feel powerless and small in front of the beauty of the lake.

Bollywood has been smitten by the beauty of the lake, and so have thousands of travelers over the years. The Dal Lake is an icon of Kashmir Valley, which has often been referred to as heaven on earth. The shore line of the lake is covered with fascinating Mughal Gardens which date back to the reign of Jahangir. The best way to appreciate the beauty of the lake is to stay in a houseboat, also called a Shikara. The ornately decorated shikaras are an experience in themselves.

One of the highlights of Ladakh is the Pangong Lake. The lake is spread over an area of about 600 square kilometers. India and China share the lake, with about 60% of its lying in the neighboring country. The lake has azure waters that simple take your breath away. The amazingly blue waters and the rugged scenery around make it almost look like a work of art by a great painter. The salinity of the lake is said to be responsible for its changing colors every season.
