Dhaka, July 18 (UNB) One-hundred members of Bangladesh Navy, who have been recruited by Coast Guard and Border Security Department of Qatar on deputation, will leave here for the country soon.
A programme was held at Navy Headquarters on Wednesday to bid farewell to the sailors, according to a release of ISPR.
Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral ZU Ahmed, who attended the programme as the chief guest, termed the appointment of Bangladeshi sailors as milestone, saying that the members of Bangladesh Navy for the first time are going to work in Qatar.
ZU Ahmed asked the sailors to discharge their duties properly while working in Qatar to uphold the image of Bangladesh Navy as well as the country.
A special munajat was also offered seeking good health and success of the Qatar bound sailors.
Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (operations) Rear Admiral M Farid Habib and other navy officers were also present.
