10 Days to MARS(Command For MOI Started)

Can any one provide some input about what are the significance of Mars mission. Like technological, Financial and other impacts for ISRO?

.
One doubt...are we going to land there?

The ground stations outside of India are NASA Deep Space Network - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, run by JPL. Presumably there is a deal to share. The Bangalore station is Indian Deep Space Network - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Indian Space Research Organisation Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia was presumably used during the inital stages of the mission.

JPL is also running the Mars Science Laboratory mission (which includes the Curiosity rover), the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity, the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. So, they have comms in that area of the sky already.

Nope! The Mangalyaaan will be placed in a highly elliptical orbit around Mars. Here.....

I wonder why such a huge apogee. 80,000 km is pretty far for any worthwhile observations/experiments. I guess they would be done during perigee.

Atmosphere is not very thick. .. so it wont be a problem. .. isro know what exactly they are doing... btw what is the operational expectancy of MOM

I think the basic mission of the probe is proof of technology, rather than any specific observation.

Wikipedia has it as an elliptic orbit with closest approach to Mars' center of mass at 365km, and furthest at 80,000km

A comet is going by Mars on 19Oct14. I wonder where Mangalyaaan will be at that point? Everything else on Mars will be sheltering or taking a look, depending on the mood of the controllers. The comet will be 140,000km from Mars, approximately.

Depending on the geometry, Mangalyaaan could be as close as 40,000km. Or as far as 220,000km, if your on the opposite side of the planet...

Phobos and Deimos are 9,000km and 23,000 km away from Mars, respectively, so perhaps some observation of the moons is planned? you might get a close pass every once in a while.
