$1.6bn Chinese soft loan for elevated Monorail in Lahore

That's too costly given the fact that Mumbai monorail cost around $450 million for 19km so this must not cost more than $650 million so i guess there are lot of commissions involved. Even if they are saying metro according to estimate 50km karachi metro should cost $2.5 billion so according to that this should be around $1.3-4 billion range but 1.6 is way too more.
Our leaders should know that they got votes from outside of lahore as well......

1.6 Billion for 1 MONO RAIL in 1 City !!!!! may be 4 Trains max

= 1600000000 (This money is paid by all citizens of Pakistan) and benefit is very limited to 1 city


Railway Engines which Pakistan Railways have shortage of Locomotives cost per locomotive 2 Million Dollar
That same money can buy Pakistan Railways , 800 Brand new High quality Locomotives
With life of 30 years


800 > 4 trains ....

Infrastructure project (loans) with out planning are same as , shotting a bullet in your head

This deal is for the development of Chinese technology, not for benefit of Pakistani people.

It will be embarrassing for Karach if Peshawar and Rawalpindi build Mass Transit systems . A city like Karachi, with a population of 20 million people needs to be serious. I read there are over 4000 enroachements along the route and Japan wants Sind Govt to solve this issue before giving the loan and starting construction
