China's sixth naval escort flotilla departed Wednesday for the Gulf of Aden and Somali waters.
　　
The flotilla with more than 1,000 personnel, including Navy special forces troops, is to relieve the fifth flotilla, which has been cruising the waters off the Somalia coast for more than three months.

Having a mother-ship carrying a few smaller sized crafts will be more flexible and efficient while performing escort missions. Also medium sized z-8 carrying 20 troops will reduce sorties per run. e.g. 4 men per ship, that's 5 ships protected in 1 sortie per chopper. Also hovercrafts are great against pirates' fast boats, so more ships can be protected.
