    Mechanised Divisions Pakistan Army

Your knowledge of Indian Army ORBAT is commendable. Let me share some inputs: 1)14 RAPID is not RAPID anymore. Its an infantry division now. And only the armored brigade of erstwhile 14 RAPID has moved to Kapurthala. 2) 1 Strike Corps - 4 RAPID, 6 Mountain Division. 33 Armoured Division, while...

Pakistan Army's VT-4 Main Battle Tank | Updates & Discussions

    8. Let me repeat again, we don't have dedicated ATGM units. Each infantry unit in plains uses a mix of Milan-2/2T and Konkur-M and packs a pretty powerful ATGM punch. - 17 Bn, BOG is a R&S (Tracked) Unit. - 19 Bn, BOG is a R&S (Wheeled) Unit. - 19 Bn, MIR is also R&S (Tracked) - 23 Bn, MIR is...

Pakistan Army's VT-4 Main Battle Tank | Updates & Discussions

Let me try this again - 1. We've 25+ Infantry Regiments. Of these, only two i.e. The Brigade of the Guards, and The Mechanized Infantry Regiment, are mechanized, and equipped with BMP-2s. 2. This is unlike your army where battalions across different infantry regiments are mechanized. 3...

Pakistan Army's VT-4 Main Battle Tank | Updates & Discussions

    (1) Mechanized Infantry in the Indian Army comes from two regiments - The Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR), and the Brigade of the Guards Regiment. These are all equipped with BMP-2 IFVs. (2) R&S Battalions, or Recce & Support Battalions are specialized battalions for the role as their name...

Pakistan Army's VT-4 Main Battle Tank | Updates & Discussions

Unlike the Pakistan Army, the Indian Army does not have dedicated HAT or LAT battalions. Earlier, there used to be some dedicated ATGM battalions, but all of them are now mechanized infantry. ATGMs are held by the infantry battalions. With Milan-2T (tandem warhead), and Konkur-M being the...

    Mechanised Divisions Pakistan Army

To the guys discussing Indian RAPIDs (Re-organized Army Plains Infantry Division), we've 7 x RAPIDs (confirmed) and possibly one more. Also, when doing armor comparison, remember that an Independent Armored Brigade Group (IABG) in case of Indian Army is bigger than its Pakistan counter-part. -...

Pakistan's use of anti-tank missile battalions to counter larger Indian mechanized forces. Doctrine

I assume regular infantry units, like in Indian Army, are also equipped with anti-tank missiles. Which I think will be Baktar-Shikan. Considering the weight of the whole complex, do they also use 4x4 vehicles? And how many launchers per battalion? Thanks.

Pakistan's use of anti-tank missile battalions to counter larger Indian mechanized forces. Doctrine

Thanks. You've helped me to clarify some doubts. To summarize what you've said: V Corps had 3 x (I) Armored Bdes of which two were folded into 25 Mechanized Division along with one new Armd Regiment. Considering that a PA Armd Bde has 2+1 structure, does this give 25 Mech Div 5+2 structure or...

Pakistan's use of anti-tank missile battalions to counter larger Indian mechanized forces. Doctrine

Thanks for the reply. I'm aware of the presence of Pakistan Army's 25th and 26th Mechanized Divisions under V and XXI Corps, respectively. The point about RAPIDs especially in context to IA's X Corps was to highlight the imbalance in the mechanized assets on the two sides. Here is another...

    Mechanised Divisions Pakistan Army

I think it was mentioned in one of the posts that IA's 33rd Armored Division has less number of tanks. That is not the case. All Armored Divisions in Indian Army have 5 armored regiments. Structure for three armored brigades is (armored regiments + mechanized infantry regiments): 1st bde - 2+2...
