But here's why Turks and Egyptians are different.
It isn't the Turkish militaries job to "protect" Turkey from moderate Islamists. What you call decapitating is just how things should be. I was very angry about the Ergenekon trials and the jailings but civilian-led militaries are the right way...
Haha it shows.
I don't want to offend any of my Turkish brothers here, but English is my first language so I'll handle the rhetorical dueling ;)
@Solomon2, I think you have Turkey read wrong, it's as simple as that. I have a lot of Jewish American friends and by following Israeli foreign...
I'm not trolling. Let me clarify. It's my opinion about my judgement of the Egyptian army. But the failures of the Army are facts.
Respond to my question then. If I'm wrong, tell me. I'll listen, trust me ;)
Informed journalist? I'm sorry for insulting you as-if you wrote the comments I was angry about but nonetheless, this guy is lucky to even have a job, come on man.
Nothing in his logic makes any sense, regardless of what side you're on.
In fact, there is hardly any point made in this article...
According to Egyptian logic, if there's 20 million Egyptians trying to bring down the country plus a joke-Army, well congratulations, that's MAJORITY RULE.
Lol. you're right. Elections are the way to go, not coups.
Yes, it is. But I'm truly interested in why the Armed Forces are held so highly. I'm not looking for a fight, because frankly, those are facts not really opinions..
Oh so that entire post was the article.
@farag, could you put the article in quote boxes or something? The idiot writer of the article did such a poor job, that I thought you wrote those comments (not that you're a bad writer, i have no idea how you write. It's just the style he wrote it wasn't...
In all the talk about the military coup in Egypt, I've always been wondering something. Why do Egyptians hold the military in such high regard? Through all the media coverage its been like those idiots on the street are like, "Yes! Yes! Bring in our brothers in the military! Our glorious...
Erdoğan has had a long line of democracy before him. Troubled democracy, but democracy nonetheless.
The Turkish people have shown they deserve democracy. The Egyptian people have shown they're savages. They're a shame to the Arab world.
You know you're a loser, right? Swallow your pride.
1) Never an agreement? So? There was an intention to buy our future weapons system because Egypt isn't an advanced and civilized enough country to produce even a propeller fin, let alone ANKA.
4) Anka isn't an aircraft you can sell...

-T-90, Mi-17, Mi-35, and BMP-3, good weapons for the KSA?
-If this deal were to go through, would this mean the end of the movement to purchase Altays and T-129s from Turkey?
@Yzd Khalifa
Normally obviously the civilian government should be in control over the army. But this isn't asserting authority, it's a witch hunt.
They can kiss your ***, İlker Paşa
No no, I was giving it as an example of political considerations in procurement decisions.
My questions really is, would the procurement body consider the fact that Turkey can become a diplomatically closer ally than the West when considering deciding on Turkish Weapons vs Western Weapons?
Hmm. Weren't the first two built in government shipyards? Maybe they'll just do that for the rest.
I don't think Koç will go away. The Turkish Government isn't so stupid as to wipe out one of the most important private companies in the industry. This was probably just their warning?
Haha the royalty was a joke. When Turks think Saudis, we usually think Princes :)
Does any political meddling occur in the selection process? Not necessarily like, oh, we should improve our relations with the USA and they're threatening us to buy our weapons but like, would the KSA procurement...
Well I live in the USA and it's my understanding that the President of the USA has the final say on military appointments, so it's normal. It just seems out of the ordinary in Turkey I guess because there is a power struggle, whereas in other countries it's accepted as routine.
I'm telling you man. There's a gap in capabilities in pretty much all Greater Middle Eastern militaries friendly to Turkey. Light-Attack Helicopters. If the T-129 can be sold to these countries, it could send a very strong precedent of regional cooperation out to the rest of the region and then...
While they are an Arab nation, I think Jordan would do better to enter the Turkish sphere of influence. Turkey seems to have stronger connections to Arab countries in the Levent area and in N. Africa rather than other Arab nations so Jordan seems likely to be the only viable formal Turkish ally...
