Of course they are against the lifting of the ban, because lifting the ban will only benefit France, Germany and Italy, but none of Britain's military manufacturers.
Why would Korean bring this to UN, as it has the actual control of the island. It is always those who do not have the control or can not hold their claimed dispute territories effectively whining like baby to the UN, and yes in this case China is the crying baby.
That is because according to US Japan security treaty they do have to defend Japan if Japan is attacked by outside force, and under the 1971 Okinawa Treaty US placed Diaoyu Island under Japan's control. The thing is now US is admitting this is a dispute and as long as no one is attacking anyone...
Better deal maybe not, be status quo most likely. Diaoyu Island can never be solved by just China and Japan alone, US needs to be the arbitrator in this dispite as it is the originator of it, but right now it want to prolong this dispute by saying that it does not take any sides in this.

While no one can predict the future for its detail. However I am sure 50 years ago any people with reasonable foresight would agree that in the future India and China would be an important player in the world stage. For me I always have known the role India will play even before its economy...
They could not even predict what will happen next year correctly, let alone decades. If they are good at predicting the future, they would be better off working as a fortune teller than getting meaner pay as newspaper writer.
