SAAB and Brazil sign contract for Gripen NG, 28 single-seat & 8 two-seat for US$5.4Bn

Well we already make 100% airframe of more sophisticated MKI and with MMRCA we are looking to build on our capabilities so I guess we will be getting more ToT than Brazil. Which makes me wonder if it is India, by delaying the contract is looking to take advantage of the fact that we can afford...

SAAB and Brazil sign contract for Gripen NG, 28 single-seat & 8 two-seat for US$5.4Bn

Yes thats right - Brazil needs Gripen. Whether India needs Rafale or not is debatable. IMO IAF already operates too many platforms, just go for MKI/Mirage/Mig29 as 4th gen jets until LCA/FGFA/AMCA arrive. But if we can capitalize on French desperation to keep their aerospace industry going...

SAAB and Brazil sign contract for Gripen NG, 28 single-seat & 8 two-seat for US$5.4Bn

Hmmm Brazil must be getting helluva ToT if they are paying $5.4 billion for just 36 Gripens. That works to around 150 million per plane. Wonder if its life cycle cost including the weapons package. For comparison, India may buy 126 Rafale, a superior platform for say $24 billion which works to...

Dassault Rafale, tender | News & Discussions

Why is IAF so infatuated with getting so many different platforms ? Cant they make do with MKIs as high end and Mirages/Mig29/Mig 21 as low end 4th gen platforms till we get LCA, FGFA and AMCA(in that order) Why the need for Rafale now ? When the whole world is moving towards 5th gen and trying...

China/Pakistan/India - Was Nehru smarter than Modi?

To answer bluntly- Yes India can and will split up eventually only to have a re-incarnation of some sort again. We undergo our own cycles of consolidation and fracture, like any other country, including China. At this moment of time, likelihood India breaking up is less than the whole...
