I think the biggest problem with A380 is fuel efficiency. It is considered to be a gas-guzzler compared to the alternatives from Boeing-LR. Obviously the gulf carriers can afford the higher fuel bills and hence you see them sticking with A380 while virtually all others have abandoned it.
