Baykar is a small company compared to TA and KE is a simple aircraft compared to the MMU. The complexity level of a UCAV and a FGFA is completely different also.
I'm reasonably sure this is just the TAI MMU team based on what I've seen. This is not counting the people in places like Aselsan and Tubitak.
Also I don't know what you mean by airframe design company. Obviously TA is doing much more than just the airframe.
If anything even more engineers are needed and the facilities and number of people are being expanded constantly. There are so many subsystems and functions that are in a fifth-generation fighter aircraft. I could list a few hundred if I just sat down and thought about it. And those are just my...
I have no intention of turning this thread into an economics thread. I will just say that people that matter realize what I have said. And that's what matters, not how you and I think economics should work.
Money is an issue because the 10-15 year outlook for Pakistan's economy is pretty bleak. It's not that we don't have money right now, it's that we won't have money for a long time.
Pakistan obviously hasn't decided on the engine but re-engining the TFX is definitely PAF's requirement - Turkish...
It is no secret that PAF is interested in the MMU and that TA is pushing very hard to make that deal too. TA is trying to sweeten the deal by offering workshare for various things. However, Pakistan suffers from
1. Painfully slow bureaucracy - the PAF regularly annoys the crap out of TA
2...
Same. That was the view from afar. The closeup is pretty disappointing.
Oh yeah. Even though I'm one of the first people to bemoan the inefficiencies and problems of SPD but PAF is making SPD look good these days. The best way I can describe it is as fear-of-missing-out. There is absolutely no...
I know right? And yet the scary part is that there is no plan. The state is broke and yet the PAF is on a spending spree on hot garbage. It's disgusting.
Fancy buildings are what we're good at. We are great at looking busy while doing nothing. The NASTP farce is hiring people like crazy these days and they have NO idea what they'll do with them. Their best plan so far is "Turkey Turkey please aap koi trainingses karado please?" - and of course...
If you're unwilling to listen to experts them no one can help you. Never go to a doctor whenever you get sick, just do whatever feels right, ok guy?
Not that you deserve a technical response but for the broader audiences' sake: it's coming in fast because:
A. It's a tailless Delta configuration...
Why do you think there's a lead time till December? A LOT of parts need to be replaced with flightworthy parts and a lot of systems need to be installed. The aircraft that we saw CANNOT fly. Trust me.
I can't speak to specifics because it's not my area of expertise but I can say that most likely it's a compromise between multitudes of aerodynamic and RCS constraints. They move things around because some vortices generated somewhere were interacting with some surface somewhere else at some...
