I do not know about command from the Prophet or Imam, but otherwise the Shia concept of Jihad as you put it does reflect the Quranic concept in the matter:

I have read the article you gave me. I agree with what the article says. Much depends on the sense of the word "shia" being used. Shia means follower. If somebody says I am a Shia because I am a "follower" of God's commands, then it is alright. Even I am ready to say I am a Shia in that sense. However, if somebody uses the word Shia to differentiate themselves from other muslims, then it is not correct because the word would have a sectarian meaning then.

Personally when i compare shia and sunnis with each other, I find the shia to be relatively in the correct path. This is just my opinion..

For one thing, I cannot fathom how sunnis can glorify the Umayyads who murdered the grandson of Mohammed and started a dynastic rule, a form of governance which is absolutely not supported by Koran.

However there are a few things like the twelver Mahdi belief which I find a bit uneasy to accept.
