Why do Pakistanis hate Hindus when it was actually the Sikhs they massacred and got massacred by?

Was watching a program on the horrors of the Partition before dozing off.

Some of the scenes of the trains and water filled fields .....

It is a miracle we have not nuked each other yet. Being honest here.

But my question is different.

Why do Pakistanis hate Hindus so much?

And why do you still (feign?) love the Sikhs?

The Sikhs were brutal on your side long before partition happened.

And in Partition the maximum killing on both sides was by Muslims and Sikhs.

Even on our side, thanks in large part to 1984, there are still some/many Sikhs my generation who hate you guys with a passion, but at the same time in their unguarded moments let slip a love-hate cross border sentiment ...

So why the special hate for Hindus? And more specifically, why not the Sikhs specifically instead?

Doc its probably because they do not know that it was the Sikhs who did most of the killings in 47, also the tactical support Pakistan gave the khalistan movement could not have succeeded if they did not distort history a bit. But the main reason is they probably need some one to hate.

Though the question is aimed at Pakistani members, I can't resist myself from giving my opinion. I don't think their hatred for Hindus or Indians in general does not stems from the post partition ethnic cleansing on both sides. It comes from an insecurity from a bigger neighbour which is essentially a hostile Hindu majority that opposed creation of Pakistan.

That's why after partition Pakistanis saw Indian Sikhs just another minority among this hostile majority (just as they saw themselves in pre-independence India) and not essentially as the participants of the large scale massacre.

I have no hate against Sikhs/Hindus. If was asked what do you want. A ex-pat Hindu from my district or a Muslim from Assam I would chose the ex-pat Hindu/Sikh anytime. That's my personal opinion.

You make "Hindu" sound a generic term when you know that spectrum is more diverse then "European". More to the point "which Hindu".

Pakistanis and sikhs got over their rivalry which was around 1947 but a specific group of hindu supremacists still like to talk about other's ancestors and why they converted.

Considering the position that Punjab and Punjabis hold in Pakistan, I don't think they do not know who did the killing.

Because people in Pakistan knew that Sikhs were used as tool by Hindus, my grandparents and all relatives who came from India all told similar stories that how Hindus cleverly played bloody game since long.
