PAF JF-17 Shoots Down UAV from Iran

Do we have any other nearby squadron ? I dont think so ... furthermore it was against drone so thunder had plenty of time

We have several air bases much closer, including - Quetta (with F7PGs) and Jacobabad (with spanking new F16s). This whole region falls within Southern Air Command; so why would jets under Northern Command come down here to shoot a drone :what:

The only reason I can think of is because the Erieyes are based at Minhad and may be they (along with JF17s from Minhas) were tracking the drone

There will not be a three front war, in fact, there will be no war at all. Iran is acting out, Afghanistan can't afford distractions, and India can't afford a war that will damage its economy.

Don't be ridiculous.

In the end, Iran will apologize, or launch a diplomatic mission to smooth things over, because they don't want to lose their hard earned influence within Pakistan. Afghanistan is already fighting a losing war, they can't afford to piss off Pakistan, so they won't do anything unless they're desperate. Modi wants to concentrate on the economy of India, and a war with Pakistan would not only ruin his plans, but would devastate India's economy.

Some one correct me, but this is the first air to air kill that the thunder has officially gotten, in active duty against a hostile plane. At least we now know that some of the thunder's air to air capabilities work as intended.

I disagree. This is nowhere near the level of things Iran has done in the past, such as shell Pakistani border villages.

Iran will seek to deescalate the situation, because they don't want to anger Pakistan, at least not until the next crisis occurs.
Disagree with what? You are saying the same thing.

Not exactly. I should've probably went into detail. What you're suggesting is a long term deescalation, I don't believe that at all. This deescalation will be short term, just like previous ones. Expect Iran to pull another stunt within a few months.

If the drone was indeed in Pakistan's air space, I support Pakistan's stance on deciding to shoot it down, we would have done the same. Legally, there is no argument about that.

But saying it was on a 'spy' mission? It's just nonsense. Every Pakistani security official should know by now that there is huge Iranian drone activity in Baluchestan to monitor terror activities and smugglers. The drone might have been following a specific activity or just entered Pakistan's air space by mistake. Regardless, it won't be much of an escalation like some are trying to portray it. Both Pakistan and Iran will keep it cool.

I do expect that too and our reply will still be exactly the same so whats the point?

I dont see a war breaking out just like you wrote earlier. There is hardly any difference of opinion here.

Iran will keep reminding us that it should not be taken for granted. Not very neighborly but thats what you get when you keep objectionable company. Iran and the Arabs are both getting into the habbit of using the India card against us. Keeping India's company certainly rubs off and it shows.

U.S. F-15 Shoots Down Yet Another Iran-Made Drone
cnn1.jpg

A U.S. Air Force fighter shot down an Iranian drone that was nearing friendly forces. The Shaheed 129 drone was the third aircraft downed by U.S. airpower in the past month, following the shootdown of a Syrian Arab Air Force Su-22 ground attack jet and another Shaheed drone.

Dear Pakistanis don't be angry at iran,Thanks to them this will boost the sales of JF-17 to other countries.

Whether it happened or not ,if there is no official confirmation, we should avoid commenting here since we don't know what are motivations behind the spread of this news. However I'm not saying that it did not happen, just not sure if happened.

The drone shot down was a "Shahed 129" drone which might have been armed. It was probably an extension of Iran's anti terror operation in Sistan Balochistan launched a few days ago. As Trump was talking about adopting a more aggressive posture against Pakistan and expanding the drone campaign, Iran might have done this to test the waters and test Pakistan's reaction.
Pakistan's reaction was calculated, the message was clearly delivered. Its also a message for Trump Administration. Pakistan Airforce and Foreign Office remained silent due to strategic compulsions especially in the background of ongoing Gulf Crisis. However, the news was probably deliberately fed to the media. Furthermore, this move will indeed have an adverse impact on bilateral relations of Pakistan and Iran in the immediate future.
This is probably, JF-17 Thunder's first kill . Within 24 hours, another Shahed 129 was shot down by an American F-15 over Syria.

All in all, a very shit move which will definitely have bad consequences.

i promise you that.

Entire gameplay of South Asia can be changed if such a mistake is made by you guys which your sane government will never make.

NOTE: Soviet Union came to Afghanistan but when they touched Pakistan the cold war came to an end with the Soviet Union dissolved. We are the same Pakistan.

We did not cross into Iran, they did. what do you expect?

Why just why? You dont shoot down drones or planes of countries which are considered friendly. I just hope and Pray that government of Nawaz isnt thinking anything foolish on the behalf of their Arab Masters.

its no message for US, they just hit a settled area couple of weeks ago
i am not sure about the authenticity of this news, i doubt we can upset our friendly neighbours be it iran or afghn

Bro you're confusing Masroor (based at Karachi) with Minhas (based at Kamra).

Kamra is near Islamabad and 800 miles from Panjgur - three times the distance than Karachi to Panjgur.

That's why I was wondering why JF17s from 2nd squadron (based at Minhas) were involved.

No 2 at masroor only 14 and 16 at Kamra

End of story
