Mir Nasir Khan, the ruler of Kalat , was the patron of Nur Muhammad Kalhora, the author of Jangnama , written in 1764 AD . The English translation is done by a Sikh who are not exactly reliable in doing honesty with historical sources. So some of the wording in English might not be exactly like the original Persian and the translation might be done with a bias of Sikh.

A Patti chief (?) joins army of Mir Naseer Khan at the banks of river Jehlum and the two moves to Sahiwal , which is mentioned to be a Baloch city of Punjab. From there they arrives , with forced marches, at Chiniot after crossing river Chenab

This thread is proof that Mian Babban despite his viciously incendiary remarks over others ethnicity can and may be a useful member of this site after all if he commits to put his sympathy for Afghanistan and ethnic nationalist thinking to the side.

Really enjoyed reading. I hope you complete this beautiful tapestry of the succession of events, diplomacy and war that Nasir Khan waged on the Sikhs with support of the Durranis. @DESERT FIGHTER and @Well.wisher a must look here.

Sardar Ji, what has race and racism any thing to do with my opinions about Sikh historians?. Sikhism is a religion , not race. Its my observation that Sikhs are very dishonest in narration of history. They often mix fiction with facts. And the translations by them can not be 100% trusted. I have read the English translation of few pages of Jangnama by a non-Sikh scholar and its obvious to me in this case , the Sikh translator has changed the tone of the original text with his own.

Chieftains of Magsi and Buledi tribes of Balochs of the advance party, attacks the Sikh army which is taken aback. The Buledi chieftain and his son are killed in the thick of battle ;

Main force of Balochs, led by Mir Nasir Khan himself, arrives. The Raisani chief performs feats of bravery against Sikhs and is wounded in the battle

The daring Mir Naseer Khan falls upon Sikhs with just a sword. He attacks a Sikh leader 'Charhtu' (Charhat Singh, grandfather of Ranjeet Singh) but the latter runs away from him. He gets shot but luckily survives ;

I don't dispute that. Like @DESERT FIGHTER said, every community writes biased history. I was just pointing out that you seemed to be generalizing to all Sikh historians. Which is never right, IMO. Anyway, maybe I am nitpicking, sorry please carry on. I'm interested in reading this thread as well.

If you had called me 'biased' or 'wrong', it would have made sense. But you called me a 'racist'. Where exactly i was implying that Sikhs are racially inferior people?. Any way enjoy the thread.

I had to call you out for calling me a racist because this is a forum of ultra Pakistani nationalists and i am not among them. I am a vocal Pashtun and a person with opposite views. The staff and Pakistani nationalist members here naturally have issues with me and i have already received infractions from mods with this new account even though i have not exactly violated forum rules. Hardliner nationalists here reports my posts upon various pretexts which provides the excuse for moderators to give me a warning or ban. Report my post for racism and moderators wont bother checking whether i really said some thing racist.

It was written by Qazi Nur Muhammad who wrote from Adbali's perspective so it is understandable. Evidently, he changed his mind later about Sikhs and wrote this as well:

In section XLI of his work, for example, he says, "Do not call the "dogs" dogs [his rude term for the Sikhs], for in the field of battle they are courageous like lions.... It should be understood that singh is their title. It is not just to call them sags [dogs]. In Hindustani singh means a lion. In battle they are veritable lions and in peace they excel Hatim [in bounty]." After extolling their mastery in the use of weapons such as sword, spear, battleaxe, bow and arrow, and musket, he praises the moral standards of the Sikh warriors. "They never kill a coward... and never pursue one who flees the field; they never attack or plunder a woman, be she a lady or a slavegirl; adultery is unknown among them and so is theft."

However, you are right, it cannot be taken seriously. It is obviously an epic glorifying Abdali and probably also glorifies Sikhs because they want to be portrayed as defeating a tough enemy.

Nur Muhammad Kalhorra did not write from Abdali perspective nor its an epic glorifying Abdali but its from Mir Naseer Khan's and is glorifying Balochs. He was attached to the court of Kalat. The first pages of the source actually deals with history, geneology and lot of praises for Balochs and past chieftains of Kalat which the translator has omitted as it was of no interest to him.

It should have been translated in English poetic form but the Sikh translator had perhaps no talent for it nor he wanted to. This is the only source which actually praises Sikhs and calls them "lions", so the translator did not want it to be dismissed as poetic exaggeration by historians.

The reason why i have criticized the translator , is because not only he has omitted lot of words from the original but has changed the meaning of many words to give it a certain vibe and tone. This so called Sikh historians often do. In the very first scene, in which Khan of Kalat receives news of Sikh raid on Dera, he is called "Aadil-i-zaman", Hatim-i-zaman", "Asfandyar-i-Jahan" etc and his people are called "Shairan" (lions) within the very first lines, and keep on praising them a lot........the translator omits all of this poetic exaggeration but keeps the poetic cursing of the Sikhs by the author.....and in the footnotes he protests over the language used against them

What language is the original in? Farsi? Maybe they lacked the linguistic skills.

Can you translate the other words you posted as well please?
