PM Modi in Fatehpur: If there is electricity during Ramzan, it should be available on Diwali too
Taking a dig at SP-Congress alliance, PM Modi said that the ruling party has entered into an alliance with the fear of losing power.

Addressing an election rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said no government should discriminate the public on the lines of religion and caste. “Sabka saath, sabka vikas is our mantra”, PM Modi said. “Ramzan me bijli athi hai tho Diwali me bhi ani chahiye; Bhedbhav nhi hona chahiye (If there is electricity during Ramadan then it must be available during Diwali too; there shouldn’t be any discrimination)” the prime minister added. He said “Gaon me kabristan banta hai to shamshaan bhi banna chahiye (If there is a ‘kabaristaan’ (graveyard), there should be a ‘shamshaan’ (cremation ground) too.”

Taking a dig at SP-Congress alliance, PM Modi said that the ruling party entered into an alliance with the fear of losing power and reiterated that the SP has “insulted” their ideologue Ram Manohar Lohia by joining hands with a party that has “looted the country”. “Those born with silver spoon in mouth realised that the situation is not in their favour,” he said while referring to Congress.

He also slammed the SP government over deteriorating law and order in the state and urged people to elect a government that would ensure the safety of people. “Goondaraj prevailing all over UP; police stations have become Samajwadi Party office,” he said.

“The glow has disappeared from Akhilesh Yadav’s face, his voice has become feeble, he is afraid and looking for right words while talking to media,” he said, adding that the SP chief has “accepted that he has lost the game”.

“Why is the policing system so inefficient in UP? Why are complaints not registered? What work culture is it? SP is least concerned about improving law and order situation in UP,” he said, urging people to elect a government that will ensure safety of people.

“The Supreme Court had to intervene to ask UP police to lodge FIR against minister SP leader Gayatri Prajapati who was allegedly involved in rape and murder,” the Prime Minister said, adding that development was in exile for 10 years in the state.

Meanwhile, polling for the third phase was held on Sunday. The fate of 826 candidates in this phase will be decided by 2.41 crore voters, including 1.10 crore women and 1,026 persons belonging to third gender category.

Considering he mentioned as if Hinduism is in dire straits in India
He has already laid the grounds for discrimination

No love for the exploitation policies of Congress but this too is a dangerous precedent

No doubt there is religious undertone in his comments, but spending a day during RAM NAVAMI or ShriKrishna Janmasthami in UP or more importantly in Ayodhya or Kashi will give better perspective how he is able to tap into local population. Speaking from my 20 years spent there during SP and BSP rule.

Tapping a population is understandable
Using fear or divisiveness to do it is not acceptable

He is right. Nothing wrong with what he said, in fact what he should have said was if there is no electricity on Diwali there will be no electricity in Ramadhan. I am sure that what he meant. Hindutva is making great progress in India. Long may it continue.

a PM is using communal yardstick to create communal fear among the majority means more threats to lives of minority.

what a shame

he is PM to every Indian not just for particular religion... it would be wise if he promise electricity for 24/7 instead of picking Ramadan or diwali.. he act like politician than PM..

Sheila meets Shinde, says no power cuts during Diwali

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Saturday assured Delhiites that they would not face any power cuts during the festive season. Dikshit met Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde at his residence here, following which she said the Centre would take all possible steps to ensure adequate supply to the Capital

This was in 2011 during UPA regime.

If you would had got it, divisiveness has everything to do in UP Bihar elections, simply because people believe in this kind of approach, not like more developed states. Not good thing in my opinion.

Yes he is and he is a leader of party as well. What he is proposing is to provide similar facilities to Hindus during their festivals as Muslims receive during Islamic festivals. Only thing is UP is already too much polarized and vitiated, he can't do much, that is the thumb rule. I far one would like a bit of electricity during Janmasthami as it's in middle of night like Christmas celebrations in middle of night. Will you not support if we also get same power during our festivals. If SP and BSP had cared for us, it would not had pushed us out of our homes making us desperate.

I did get it
The idea being that it is not a good thing regardless of who uses it

UP for e.g had very little in the way of Hindu Muslim riots till the 36 congress government

It actually had more shia sunni riots than hindu muslim issues

that is low thinking... better to have a critic as friend than blind follower... what kinda moral he can set... when he follow divide and conquer policy... Many akhilesh Kejriwal supposed to wait for modi appointment.. most of his speech targeted towards other parties.. if he is an MP then it's fine....such type of over active performance good for nothing...
