The Nokia brand is finally back in the smartphone game as today HMD Global, which holds the rights to the name, announced the Android 7.0 Nougat-powered Nokia 6. The bad news is that it’s a mid-range device for the Chinese market, so we’ll have to wait a little longer to get a premium global device.

Atypically for a mid-range device, the Nokia 6 comes with an aluminium unibody carved from a single solid block of 6000 series aluminium. It then undergoes two separate anodizing procedures to acquire a look far above what its price tag suggests.

Nokia 6 is powered by the Snapdragon 430 chipset with an octa-core Cortex-A53, Adreno 505 GPU and an ample 4GB of RAM. It’s built around a 5.5” 1080p screen that has a curved 2.5D Gorilla Glass sheet on top.

On the camera side, the Nokia 6 offers a 16MP main snapper with PDAF and reasonably bright F/2.0 lens. On the front sits an 8MP camera with the same aperture. The 64GB of storage make sure you’ll have enough room for all your photos, but unfortunately the chipset limits the video recording to 1080p@30fps.

Nokia 6 will debut exclusively through JD.com in China in "early 2017". It will retail for 1,699 CNY or $245.

Nokia is back in the game with its newest smartphone, the Nokia 6. This time around its not based on Windows and features Android 7.0 Nougat instead.

HMD Global, the manufacturer behind the new Nokia smartphone, announced the phone in a press release yesterday. It will be released in China through JD.com exclusively in early 2017 according to the company. There is no word on an international release yet.

Here’s the phone in all its glory:

It will cost CNY 1,699 in China which is around Rs. 25,000.

Design and Display
HMD was keen to mention that Nokia 6’s body is carved out of a single 6000 series Aluminium block. It is then treated with two different anodizing procedures which makes it look a lot better than what its price would suggest. The company also included a polarizing filter for the screen to make it more sunlight readable.

Nokia 6 comes with a 5.5 inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display with a curved 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass sheet on the front.

Internals and Storage
Nokia 6 is running an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor @1.4 GHz (seems a little weak for this price). It will come with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. The company did not say if the phone has a microSD card slot or not.

It will ship with Android 7.0 Nougat. It seems to have a custom UI on top of Android Nougat but no details were mentioned. We hope it’s a minimal one though.

Camera and Battery
The primary camera is a 16 MP sensor with Phase Detection Autofocus and a flash. Video recording is limited to 1080p@30fps due to the chipset’s limitations.

The front camera features an 8 MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture.

The battery features a 3,000 mAh unit which should provide plenty of battery life owing to the low/midrange chipset and a 1080p resolution screen. Unfortunately, no fast charging technology was mentioned.

Other Features
Dolby Atmos Surround sound is included to ensure an optimal audio experience. A fingerprint sensor is also included on the front at the bottom of the screen.

It wasn't a pure android phone. Instead it was a windows phone with windows skinned and android cloned :D
