Honestly , I believe they should not be allowed in our armed forces as well there should be a fine line between religion and conduct hate me if you disagree.

Just because you have beard doesn't mean that you are religious.

We would get you a fatwa from Dar ul uloom Deoband that it is mandatory if you need that and if that is how your country works.

Now change this discriminatory rule and allow any muslim to have beard or not as per his will.

Imagine a fighter pilot with a beard and the oxy mask pulls out a couple of hair..ouch

The other day i watched Hashim amla asking the umpire to use scissors and free his helmet from his beard.

Look bro to tell you the truth and some Sikhs are gonna hate me but most of the Sikh pilots or commandos that i have met dont have a beard longer than few mms.They trimmed their beard and hair out of their own choice to serve the nation well and i fully respect them.

I don't know, but have never seen a practising sikh without turban and beard, but there are plenty of moslems who doesnot sport beard. May be that's why.

Wrong it is well known that NBC masks cannot fit well with free flowing mullah type beards but can be safely used with gelled and secondly the beards have to be wound and kept in a mesh. Both Indian and Pakistan Armed Forces regulations which a copies of the UK old act state very clearly that when you join the Armed Forces your personal rights are curtailed but I guess with shallow knowledge you have on Armed Forces the next best thing came up in your mind was religion?



Most Pilots don't as they believe in being able to take of and put on the mask without it getting caught in facial hair?



The law of the land applies equally to Hindus and Muslims so what is ur grudge?

So it only makes an exception for Sikhs lol?

beards are not part of religion for muslims , its not compulsery , but just has became a identity associated with radical fundamentalists ,....why do anyone think that armed forces in india going to allow it...

In the above pic you posted .. Those boys have only covered up their beards with some net type cloth ... Hardly an issue .... But than again I doubt this decision will hurt Indian Muslims .. Considering they don't even make 2-3% of Indian military.

For Sikhs (practicing), maintaining a beard is a tenet of their religion!
No such rule exists for the Muslims unless someone here can quote the Quran or hadith that states the same.

Now say if we were serving pork to our muslim cadets and serviceman despite knowing that it is haram in Islam, then you have a case.
this is nothing! I mean if the only issue is the right to fashion a beard and individual choice, then isn't the Indian system impinging on the rights of the hindus as well, who are the majority in the nation and often accused (by Pakistanis)of creating laws to favor themselves?!

Its not the point main point is a very high percentage of the men in our forces are religious but not all never the less its just per conduct that it should not be allowed I have family in the forces and my dad served PN proudly again its just my thought and nothing more.
