we have Jf17 (no other choice) but there is no way we can break IN blockage during conflict without a strong subsurface arm.
JF-17 is good for quantitive purposes but not quality. Have JF-17 block 3 replace F-sola.
then get 8-10 squadrons of high quality fighters. 4.5 gen and a 5th gen platform.
EFT + TFX = Death to indian air superiority

PAF simply do not have funds for that, focus is on PN,
as far as EFT is concern its will remain a distant dream, genius in PAF screwed us when they rejected rafale and opted for F-16.

IAF have both qualitative and quantitative advantage and it will remain so, reality is harsh. goodday

8-10 squadrons of 4.5 and 5th gen? Hardly 2-3 i think.

No.15 Sqn Cobras ....Mirage-III RP, EP Mirage-V PA,DA,DR Tactical Attack
&
No. 22 Sqn Ghazis ....Mirage-III DF/DA/EL/DL OCU

Can be replaced by a new acquisition of 4.5 or 5th gen aircrafts or if second hand F-16 are acquired or by Mirage-2000 if the rumour was true.

No.14 Sqn Tail choppers .....F-7 P Air Superiority
No. 17 Sqn Tigers F-7 PG
No. 18 Sqn War Hawks F-7 P OCU
No. 20 Sqn Eagles F-7 PG Air Superiority
No. 23 Sqn Talons F-7 PG Air Superiority

All F-7P/PG's can be replaced by JF-17 Block II or III.

After this PAF can think about replacing ROSE squadrons(3 squadrons) and Naval support No.8 Squadron.

For Pakistan to thwart the overwhelming quantitative & quantitive edge of India, the Typhoons are a must. Not only will they nicely compliment the F-16s in strike formations, technology from this deal could find its way into the JF-17. In the long term, the TFX will likely source some technology from the Typhoon as well. Thus making it the best option for Pakistan. But I don't see PAF inducting the Typhoons. A combination of financial and lack of strategic creativity will ensure the PAF will stagnate while all around it, the environment is rapidly changing.

Thats the problem, across the border they gettin 300 super sukhois, 40 Rafales, Upgrading Migs and Mirages and we buying 16 second hand A/B F-sola

Nothing wrong with the F-16s. I rate the MLUed F-16s on par with anything India has. The problem is the absence of psychological edge. For small air forces like Pakistan & Israel which rely on superior training and tactics, cutting edge technology is very crucial in order to continue challenging and pushing back vastly larger air forces. Since the 1990s, Pakistan Air Force has stagnated and blown opportunities to maintain their edge by first failing to induct the Mirage-2000 in the early 1990s and again for turning down the Rafale in the 2000s. By contrast, the IAF inducted the SU-30MKI & is now (perpetually) negotiating induction of limited Rafale. The PAF simply can't rely on unproven and overhyped Chinese jets. The damage done to the psyche of the Pakistani pilots in the long run will have serious strategic repercussions IMO

Typhoon is just too pricey and with talks of India assembling F16s SU35 may be a possibility but it would be a big decision for Pakistan, Russia India and China too

There was a similar thread made sometime ago as well. It was claimed that PAF would acquire 40 high end fighters however the high end fighter was not named then.

There is no doubt that we are in a dire need of a potent platform and in numbers. However as far as Eurofighter and Su-35 are concerned both are really good better than anything PAF has. So no matter what we purchase it would be the start of new era. Moreover there are certain things we must keep in mind:

  1. Su-35 gives us the best capabilities in the least price however the Indian factor is quite high there. I am not saying India has a say in Russian decision but the amount of weapons Indians purchase from Russians they can cause some troubles.
  2. EFT is no doubt the best 4.5 gen aircraft and is the perfect answer to Rafale but its too expensive for PAF at the moment. Yes it is operated by RSAF and other friendly middle eastern air forces but the fear of sanctions will always remain. I have said this before and would say again that back in 90s we were able to maintain our F-16s with Turkey's help via back door channels. However in future if similar situation arises Saudis wont be able to play Turkey's role.
With all that said I believe PAF must look into Chinese options rather then the other 2. Chinese Flankers are quite potent as well for eg. J-11D has the payload capability, range, AESA, IRST and musch more that our current inventory lacks. Since now we have good relations with Russians they can allow China to sell them to us. We can easily get TOT and local manufacturing as well. That would work wonders for our local aviation industry just like the thunder program. With China we wont have sanctions issues and if everything goes fine we may make the naval variants as well.

Sir I am amused I wouldn't be surprised if you continue to remain in denial even after we sign the deal
Sir WHEN we sign the deal i would say that we have signed the deal and will be happy about it!!
I wont give any indications let alone CONFIRMATION that we have signed the deal like you are doing!
Funny how you left all those questions asked of you, AGAIN!! :)

The PAF has been connected by fanboys and others to the Typhoon since 2006. This latest rumor is probably originating from the same vein. I share your skepticism.
