Rail Battle Between China and Japan Rushes At High Speed

Is this a joke??

Japan has had HSR tech for DECADES,but didn‘t even try to promote sales until China has entered the picture, now you can see Japan is suddenly big on selling it...Frankly I dont really mind the competition but to see the pioneer of HSR,following the new guy around, trying to undercut his every sale.. is quite amusing, and a bit pathetic..

I’m afraid this is just another living example of the underlying Japanese psyche, their deep down obsession with China and their often romanticize dream of ever becoming the “true” China, which makes me want to laugh at them and pity them at the same time.

Once a replica,always a follower.

The problem with all Japanese products is their lack of off the shelf modularity...China has really mastered the art of off the shelf modular mass production from the Germans...Chinese HSR and JF17 as well as the COMAC 919 are latest examples of these..

Good luck to both nations. Like @Shotgunner51 says, hope we won't make this a destructive competition which would only hurt each other while benefit the third parties.

In the meantime, I am happy China did not show interest in Indian railway. For the sake of price cutting, it could have joined and helped Japan a little bit but while Mr. Abe was really in need of a victory, why not let him take it all?

I am happy with a situation where global market is mostly dominated by China and Japan HSR.

sorry bud, i dont know about japenese culture. and you could have specified it as its confusing.

Something that is very hard for westerners and other gaijin to understand. Something that is a unique feature for East Asians. The Koreans have a similar ceremony called 굿 or pronounced Gut. I think the Chinese have something similar as well.

come chinese hsr's are actually japanese hsr's but modified

china has the advantage in price. they will undercut other companies to the point that rivals will lose money competeing for the tender. tech wise japan is ahead. but china is growing and needs time but soo far 10000+km of hsr tracks and some good trains there are quiet a good option and with the low price.......one cant simply ignore them. i think they want to build a hsr in california. arnold Schwarzenegger was in china to arrange them to pay for a hsr line back in 2010. as the state[ california] was $19 billion in the red. why did'nt he just go to japan instead?

Japanese HSR in Taiwan is a total disaster, who wants a second failure except for the dumb? I can foreseen another disaster is in the coming in India, technologically and financially.

CRH2G型高寒防风沙动车组运行在哈大线上,但是它的主要用武之地将是兰新线该车的防风沙功能将在兰新找到用武之地。将在在风沙较大的地区,如中东该车将有很大市场。.jpg

I propose price fixing and hidden backroom deals between both countries so that both sellers wont 'race to the bottom' in terms of price and technoloyy transfer.

That way both are winners with plenty of rice to eat!

Do you know the main reason for the failure of the Taiwanese HSR?

Also can you provide me with some links for your rail speed up campaign ?

The reason is simple, it's a closed Japanese system, all you can use for this system is made-in-japan. It may seem cheap from the beginning, but now, it's a financial disaster.
Speed up? U mean the speed-up campaigns before 2007?

Wrong The Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) is a successful project in terms of ridership and achieving many of its goals of shifting transportation modes from highways & airways to railways. The problem with Taiwan HSR is largely with the method used to finance it – heavy private sector borrowing. The 80% private funding method left Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) financially vulnerable to poor construction decisions, cost overruns, and the global recession.

In other words, the Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) system would be a very financially strong system were it not for the flawed method used to build it – which has left the system with heavy debt, even though they have been significantly eased by the massive government bailout. Aside from that, however, the system does not require operating subsidies thanks to very high ridership in Taiwan.

Also yes I am talking about speed up campaigns before 2007

lol, u should ask a Taiwanese if this project is successful or not, instead of listening to Japanese company.
The ridership is less than expected, and the ticket is overpriced.
And subsequent fee for maintenance is wooooooooooo.

Chinese HSR is easily better, only reason the other party is winning some project here and there is due mainly to political reasons.

Japan’s trade with India is about 5 percent of its commerce with China, and less than 25 percent of India-China trade.

It's peanuts,India is not an important trading partner with China, Japan's economy needs some boost to stop the current free fall.

Chinese High-Speed Rail (HSR) is about 50% faster than a Japanese Bullet Train

China's Beijing-Guangzhou (about 1,400 mile trip) runs at 350 kilometers per hour (see citation below from CNN).

On the other hand, the Japanese Tokyo-Kyoto line runs at a much slower 250 kilometers per hour (see citation below from TripAdvisor). I'm guessing the Indians could only afford the inferior and much slower Japanese technology.

I'm doubting Indians' purchasing power.
Their middle class(real middle class) is too small for high-speed rail.

Made in Japan is overpriced. China winning is actually good for Japan long term. They will have to lower price for Japanese goods that means lower cost of living for Japanese ppl...
