Who Will Win Asia's Fifth-Generation Fighter Race?

A scramjet (supersonic combusting ramjet) is a variant of a ramjet airbreathing jet engine in which combustion takes place in supersonic airflow. As in ramjets, a scramjet relies on high vehicle speed to forcefully compress the incoming air before combustion (hence ramjet), but a ramjet decelerates the air to subsonic velocities before combustion, while airflow in a scramjet is supersonic throughout the entire engine. This allows the scramjet to operate efficiently at extremely high speeds: theoretical projections place the top speed of a scramjet between Mach 12 (8,400 mph; 14,000 km/h) and Mach 24 (16,000 mph; 25,000 km/h)

Play nice, folks, lay off the insults and aggressiveness.

Ramjet can't go beyond Mach 5, ramjet's speed limit is Mach 4 and Mach 4.5, its a scramjet that can go beyond Mach 5, go kid read your fairy tales, YJ-12 has more than triple range of XASM-3 that why it is big you dickhead CRAPY veit

FOrget about ramjet and scram jet. Our rocket engine Astra does mach 4.5. With arrival of new powerful composite motor, it will cross mach 5.

Russia and PAK FA will win the race ; obviously

Both the J-20 and PAK FA are at the end of their flight testing regimes. Whichever enters service first is dependent on the nuances of their respective programs as well as the evolving requirements of the PLAAF/RuAF.

pakfa has stronger base.

Russia has a base but no money, PAK-FA is delayed for technical reasons, you stupid:hitwall::crazy::p:

I am talking about anti ship cruise missiles not air to air missiles and don't bark about your CRAPY vedic ASTRA which has a speed of Mach 50:hitwall::blah:, as usual Indian superiority complex:lol::suicide::suicide2:

Please explain.

Market: Beside F-35, PAK-FA is the design on big order of oversea buyer ( with 154 of India ). I agree with a poster that Russia need money for that, any country need money for that. And joint development funded them. Russia has order from India and their own demand and order from other countries like Vietnam, Venezuela... to make this move forward. This similar to order of 200 Su-30 MKI

Ability: Beside US, Russia is the most capable manufacturer of fighters, they could solely produce any element that needed including advanced TVC engines, avionics, radars, advanced weapon, and plasma stealth technology. Their interceptor reach Mach 3+ in rally with US during 1970s.

Transparency and test flight: we could have a good look at their manufacturing base, the details of their test flight including failures and the results persuaded us that their test mostly done.

And we know that means first PAK-FA commissioned very soon for sure.

I fail to see how export potential has an effect on the program's ability to adhere to its planned induction date. Unless the aforementioned nations (Venezuela, India, etc) have already begun financing the capital required to build production facilities, export prospects do not matter in this regard.

And so can the Chinese.

What does transparency have anything to do with the program's speed vis-a-vis the J-20?

Transparency help the outsiders could measure the real progress of the project. It's better than guessing

Who said guesswork was involved with assessing the J-20 and T-50 programs?

And unless the level of transparency allows you direct access to the program's schedules and outlines of its supply chains, any judgment made thereof is still tinted at best.

Recently, China decided to buy Su-35. Delivery would be at the end of 2016 for a few, and remain in 2017.
It's a fact.

If J-20 development is nearly done, and you were the leader, you would choose to put some billion dollars to production of J-20 or to purchase of Su-35 ?

The Su-35 likely has little to do with the J-20.

Why are the two mutually exclusive? The Su-35's uses extend beyond complementing the J-20.

So to you which commissioned first in China ? Su-35 or J-20
I think Su-35 for the gap before J-20 could be deployed.

You may misunderstand, my previous post imply that is the indication that J-20 still not in full performance until at least mid-2017
