Can Iranian movie 'Muhammad' alter Islam's violent image?

A movie can't alter the image of something whose core is all about violence, segregation and discrimination.

Because they are jealous. Otherwise Qatar just announced to make their own movie of the Prophet: Qatar plans to one-up Iran's Mohammed film

They are jealous that Iran has done it and is going to benefit from the projection of soft power of Islam in this world and the divine grace in the next.

They are acting like children. They announced it a few years back when the Iranian film was announced. Iran never said that no one should make films on Prophet Mohammad. It's not a competition. The more Islamic countries that make it, the better, but Qataris are acting like they want to one-up Iran. Even making a film about the Prophet seems to be about Iran for them!!!

Even the way they are describing their project doesn't make it like a spiritual attempt...

"Alnoor Holdings’ Chairman Ahmed Al-Hashemi said: “The films will bring a ‘wow’ factor in graphics and visual effects that has not been achieved before"

People who convert are generally those who are going through mental depression...as soon as they come out of it they realise what a horrible mistake they made and leave Islam.

I myself am an example of it..I converted to Islam in 2005 and reverted back to Hinduism in 2006 after I did a good deep research of Islam and found it is nothing but..... leave it.
welcome back brother :)
but how did u converted back to Hinduism?

After maintaining for decades that the terrorist problems are not the fault of islam but that of its followers, now they are shooting a documentary on islam. No issues, hopefully the terrorists will go see the movie and mend their ways.

Here's the kicker though: from this discussion it is pretty clear that most of the Sunnis will go see the movie due to the image of Prophet problem. I know Iranians do not consider that an issue.

So if it is directed at the terrorists only the non-sunni ones will see it?

If on the other hand, the intent of the movie is to better explain islam to non-muslims, great. I'd welcome it and go see it. The question then becomes will the sunnis and whatever other castes of islam agree what is depicted in the movie is the correct version of islam.

worse case scenario if some nutjob let fly some fatwas against the theatres screening the movie due to the creation of Proh Mhd's image on screen.

For you the whole world is takfiri. Before this incident I was supporting Iran but not anymore and I think this a conspiracy against Iran to alienate it further. Depicting of Holy Prophet any sort of image is a blasphemy and no one will ever side with you on that....not the sufis, barelvis, salafis, wahabis.

Why you guys are so rigid man..The director who made the movie, is not intent to create anything bad..rather he is trying to fight the islamophobia in the modern way where non Muslim people can understand...His intent is a noble thought....He is of course will not do anything that is unislamic...

You can if you are by birth Hindu...It is possible...we will talk in a separate thread about it..

For the thousand time, the Prophet's image isn't on screen.

Her is something that makes me happy. This is an article in Pakistan newspaper about the Saudi cleric and his comments on the film,
Saudi Arabia's top cleric slams Iran's movie on Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) - The Express Tribune

Now look at the comments. As of this post, there were 21 comments. Only 4 of the comments seemed to agree with the cleric. This shows 80% of the Pakistani commentators were not radical in their way of thinking.

Yes, it has 3 other versions besides Persian: Urdu, English and Arabic.

I don't really like dubbing, I prefer keeping the original audio and using subtitles. People put a lot of effort into the original audio.

The base version will be in Persian right?

I read the film shows a boy representation Mhd from the backside. Is that not an image of him?

Well I also like the original sound. But honestly dubbing is an art and I assure you how we dubb movies in Iran is in a complete different league from what you see for example in European countries or the rest of middle East .
I don't talk about Easter Asia as I don't know how they do the dubbing but our dubbs are sometines alot better than the original.
When we want to dubb something high quality it takes weeks for a movie sometimes even longer than the original .by the way if its a shitty movie then the dubbing won't take longer than half a day.

Who is the Guy who stays on the Picture ?

This is common. We have exchange students here. More than 75% neo converts to Islam leave formally in a year. This is documented. The rest just stops following it. Otherwise, given the rates of conversion, the world would have been Muslim. In fact Evangelical Christianity has grown overall overtaking Islam in vast stretches of the world - especially Africa. And even in Jammu and Kashmir. You won't believe how many Kashmiris in the Valley have been converted to Christianity!

Kashmiris are Christians, time to have a referendum then? :D

Nah. You do in yours. We may lose by a narrow margin. The Sunnis have all the guns. In case there is a free vote, the Indian armed forces will have to evacuate to a minimum. The Sunnis will rule the roost. We won't take that chance, aint so stupid. Plus, all Sunnis in the rest of India will also ask for Independence. Pakistan knows this, and that is why they don't want this issue to die. This remains the only real hope for Pakistan to break India into a thousand pieces.

Aww. :( Ok.
