Nothing! There were very few chances of the Thunder in Egypt.
Their Falcons are the mainstay with the Rafale taking high end.
That leaves J-7 on the way out and M2000 to serve as basics.

There were not many logical points favoring a J-17 buy there.
In general Mo, always check fighter order of battle before judging
a rumor. Often, it will reveal the truth i.e. that the journo is psycho.

Don't know, but Israel sure in response to Egypt opting out for LCA-Tejaz after seeing its impressive flight demonstration infront of US Prez recently
