• UN weapons embargo on Iran will remain in place for five years
• UN missile sanctions on Iran will not be lifted for eight years
• The deal allows for restoration of UN sanctions within 65 days in the event of Iranian non-compliance

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...deal-live.html

* This means if Iran can neither buy weapons nor sell weapons of any kind for the next 5 years. In case of missiles, the time limit is 8 years.

* This means if Iran provided Hizbullah with any kind of weapons, then US Administration could easily blame Iran for breaching the deal and impose the sanctions once again and prolong them from 10 years to another 20 to 30 years.

Note: The most effective weapon in hands of Hizbullah against Israel are missiles. But the ban upon missiles is 8 years.

In fact this single point has put Iran totally at the mercy of US/Israel.

Not only Hizbullah, even if Iran supply arms to Syrian Assad, still US could reimpose the sanctions within 65 days and then once again prolong it for unlimited time.

* I have absolutely no Idea why Rouhani Government agreed to this point. Normal conventional weapons have nothing to do with nukes.

Can we still call it a good deal for Iran?

To be true, It was difficult for me to believe in Reformists like Hassan Rohani and Rafsanjani as they are mostly rich people and businessmen who care for their interests more than Iran's interests. They wanted the deal at every cost.

I also wanted the deal, but not at the cost of Iranian interests.

Is US planning to down the present Iranian Regime with in 5 to 10 years?

Doubts are there that we will see "Free Iranian Army" in Iran too within next 5 to 10 years.

Fact is this that US and Israeli planners don't want to see any STRONG nation in this region, which could challenge them in any way.

if US or Israel derailed this deal then Iran too can hit back with assembling nuclear weapons at short notice and they are only step away

Why are you changing the title of the news? Sorry but your theory is none-sense.
The reality is, even under this deal, Iran is still one year away from a bomb at maximum. Nothing is done from Iran's side which is irreversible. Iran can bring back its centrifuges and reinstall them very fast. Iran will be developing the Ir-8 which just a few thousand of them can give Iran industrial scale nuclear enrichment power.

The reality is, 5-10 years will go very fast and the in the meantime, Iran's economy would have BOOMed. This is what matters.

Anyway why are you making a separate thread? do you not see there was already a thread on the matter?
@Serpentine bro, sorry to disturb you, but we don't need yet another thread on this issue. There is already few running. Can you please close this.

Does this means they can never make a Nuclear bomb

Iran can make a nuclear bomb at any times it wishes. But there are countries that have nukes but are economically almost failed. Iran wants to officially be a threshold nuclear state and at the same time prosper economically. This deal provides both of these wishes.

I opened separate thread in order to discuss and concentrate on only the Negative side of this Deal.
(You see there was already a thread about Nuclear Deal, but then a separate thread started about the Statement of President Rouhani).

Brother, problem is not 5 years (as you mentioned).

But the problem is this that this point brings Iran completely at the mercy of US. This means US could prolong this 5 years into another 10 - 20 years by blaming that Iran is breaching the deal by supplying weapons to Hizbullah or Syria.

So, very simple logical question: Why in the first place Rouhani/Zarif agreed upon this point? It was completely non related to the Nuclear Deal. In no way Iran should have accepted it.

Secondly, ask yourself why US kept on insisting on such deal when it is only for 5 years? Do you think US does not know that 5 years are nothing (as you mentioned in your post)?

No, indeed US also know very well that 5 years is not a big period. But US is not a fool. US know much better how to bring others to their knees.

Reality is this that this single point is bring Iran on the mercy of US and it could sanction Iran whenever US wants as Iran is already supplying both Hizbullah and Syria with weapons. And this is not going to change in near future.

Sorry bro, but reality is not like you have stated. This is an agreement between P5+1 and not something the US can change. This time frame of 5,10,15 years etc are not something they can amend. Once this time frame is over, they cannot do jack legally. The Americans realised they cannot prolong Iran's advancement indefinitely so they had no choice but to settle down for these time period of 10-15 years. You are worrying for no reason bro. Iran has not lost much but has gained tremendous concessions. This may not be clear now, but you will see it in the future. Just wait ;)

I have met a lot of iranian students and professors in US varsities. They are very studious and publish a lot of papers in different fields in academia.

Iran unlike what op is trying to point out, is fully confident of what they are signing up for. This deal would be a win-win for both sides in the long run.

I hope your wishes prove to be true. Insha-Allah.

Nevertheless, for me it is a very important question why US insisted so much upon this point?

Unfortunately, I am unable to be satisfied from any answer above about this point.

I fear and fear a lot.

Just imagine if any Republican President comes, and he wants to find ways to end this deal, then this single point is providing him with enough excuse and authority to abandon this deal.

And this fear is it delusional or coming from years of experience in working out clauses in international deals ?

Thanks.

This deal would have also been a win-win situation without this point of weapons embargo.

So, unfortunately all my fears and questions remain unanswered regarding this point. Why was it so important for US to insist upon it so much that it fought for it till the last minute and didn't let the deal to go any further without Iran accepting it.

And who has stopped Iran from developing weapons indigenously ?

And who has stopped Iran from developing weapons indigenously ?

Again developing weapons was not my question.
My question was about exporting weapons to Hizbullah and Assad, which immediately bring back the sanctions within 65 days.

I am sure you are wise enough to understand this difference.

My objection upon President Rouhani team still exists why they accepted this point when conventional weapons are not related to nuclear issues.

And who has stopped Iran from developing weapons indigenously ?

Very simple. One should not try to re-invent the wheel. Resources are always limited and the focus should be only on newer development.

Well this cause was important because Iran should not take advantage of relaxed sanction regime to build up an armoury and be defiant about it.

And tell me something, if US/NATO had to bomb Iran, pray tell me, minus this deal, why can't we bomb them anyway ? ( we are talking only of intentions here per your argument ). What's new in the deal which we currently don't have, to pave the way for bombing missions ?

Very simple. One should not try to re-invent the wheel. Resources are always limited and the focus should be only on newer development.
That's why it's a win-win.

A lot of resources can now be freed up which Iran can either use to shore up their indigenous conventional military or setup new industries and create jobs for masses in high-tech industry.

You are wrong. Weapons embargo is already in place since 2007 and we sent all kinds of arms to Hezbollah and they knew it from beginning. Based on deal, they can not reimpose sanctions for reasons other than those stated in text of deal (works that Iran must do), otherwise, the deal will be obliterated and it's gone.

Don't worry bro, we won't have a deal which bans us from sending weapons to allies, and you can even see it in U.S officials words. John Kerry said, only issues concerning Iran's nuclear program are resolved and other issues like sending weapons to Hezbollah or others were not a part of this deal and it's still a headache for them.
