Yesterday i was Watching a video about the fall of Ottoman empire, and one question that attract my attention was that , the host ask ... " When Last Sultan as a Authenticated Authority call for Jihad Against the British Empire , so no Muslim from West has answer to that call , even if some did so its not that huge amount , but today we see Terrorist Organizations like AQ , ISIS are calling for Global Jihad , which they dont have Authority but still people Specially from West are replying to their calls ... why is that ???

Back then the Arabs really gave in for a promised land - they broke the empire....


Now people are more independent and frustrated....They need no reason to inflict chaos.....growing up playing shooting bashing games, growing up in environments with skinhead like people bullying you...Well it sort of creates and aggression ...

Arabs were not able to get hands on what they were promised , to help British Empire for defeating the Ottomans ...

but they ( Ottomans ) have Authenticated Authority to call for a Jihad , and response from the Muslims were terribly disappointed .. result the Ottomans were caught in Fighting for their Country on multiple fronts ...

today , these so called jihadist , and self-Proclaimed Khalifa are asking for Global Jihad , and people actually replying to them positively , so should i imply that a Muslim Today is much more dumber than than he was in 1914?

its not about Compare , the Person who answer the Question said the same thing , its actually not comparable .. but the question is reasonable , dont you think ? ISIS call for Jihad get response from all over the world , including much educated Muslims , but back in 1914, when Muslims have a Authority to call for a Jihad , which would not be considered as today's jihad ...

- Why Muslims not responded for Jihad when Caliph declared one....because Ummah is nothing but just an illusion.

- Why people respond to AQ, ISIS on their so-called cihad....well, today we have youtube,twitter, facebook which can easily reach over millions of people in an instant and can be used to indoctrinate them and they can jump on plane easily reach the conflict zone....In short words globalization. Maybe more people (individuals, groups) would come to aid of the Caliph if conditions were of 21 centuries conditions.

well your post lead me to have 2 points ... and probably Questions ..

1. I agree Ummah concept was lost , but what will you call Ottoman empire ? wont it also be Ummah , the farest gates of Ottomans Empire , are under the Ummah , so basically who betray them ? ummah or just a Part of Ummah ?

2. Again i agree that Things are but easy to Propagate today , as compared to the past decades , but if dont you think that in Past , we dont have much differences than we have today ? and even a weak Message that reach to people a bit late can turn the tables into Ottomans Victory ?

How these two examples are even comparable? British during colonial times killed peaceful demonstrators for no reason, do you really think they would have tolerated a Guy like Anjem Choudhary on their own streets?

In WW1, Ottomans thought all muslims would rise up and defend Muslim land. Partly it was the mistake of some Arab tribes who gave in to empty promises from the West and got screwed by them afterwards. Partly it was our mistake because our recon didn't catch those western spies who formed rebellion against us. Ottomans miscalculated and we were overstretched and lost a lot of men. When our soldiers (including my great grandfather was fighting to protect the holy cities some Arab tribes were fighting with the British). According to British historian of the time. The Arabs were doing it pure for loot. Not because of a greater ideal or something else. Not all Arabs fought for the West though. There were some Arab tribes who also stayed loyal and didn't get bribed. In majority Iraqi Arabs stayed loyal to Turks while Syrian Arabs didn't.

Well, you can jump in a plane and come Turkey within a day....how would you come a century ago ?? How would you contact people, organize yourself. Today these things can be organized very easily but not back then.
