Why Kerala has no beef with beef.

Please never ever call yourself a hindu or a believer of shree mad bhagavad geeta or believe in our gods or go to temples and then indulge in eating of a flesh of a cow. If cow meat is so dear to you brothers abandon going to any temple or prey to gods or simply believing yourself to be a hindu. There can be no sin greater than willingly killing cow and (I just cannot imagine) eating it.

And keralite hindu guys - your land is known as god's own country and you guys have absolutely no shame, in fact, you guys boast of eating beef, you ppl reached nadir of our dharma. I am very very sure if tomorrow someone to say to you that human flesh is tastiest you guys will seek out for that too.

I am very very sorry if I have hurt someone but right now, after going thru this thread, I am feeling very low.

I think you are a genuine person, expressing your views.
One Answer - R E L A X. Time heals all wounds.

you should understand that India is not a monolithic culture and neither is Hinduism. we are several sub-cultures amalgamated as a single country.

I love the Hindu way of life, it's dynamism, specially the Kerala Hindu rituals(though I am not a Hindu). Nothing is as attractive as these rituals. I don't think other religions have this attraction.

So enjoy your life and improve yourself. Do not worry about others.

Pranab was always the Prime Minister we should have had. Never theek hai.
Congress would never have made that mistake. Narsimha Rao was/will be the last pro Dharmic PM from the Congress Party.

India will become a Hindu minority country.
 India IS a Hindu minority country. How many Hindus believe in Hinduism anyway? :D

Ask BJP to go for a snap poll then, like what Rajapakshe did. They will get 2/3rd malority and will be able to pass all the bills they want to pass.

Beef is not a taboo for all Hindus, that's what I was saying.

ha? So how many high caste Hindus have been declared as chandals and included into reservation schemes? @SarthakGanguly I thought RSS is against caste.

Is it? There was no free media in 2004 and 2009? Hindutva was not used as an agenda in 2014 election, why? Because BJP knows Hindutva won't win them election.

Let RSS contest the election on its own if it is an era of right wing Hindutva.
Two points -
1. The Sangh is anti caste...especially when it comes to the discrimination that comes free. I have never seen any segregation on the lines of caste. The Chandal Asura question is a waste of time. Such stupid differences were and are the primary reason we are facing the issue of conversions.
2. Protection of the Cow is a duty of a Hindu as enshrined in our Holy books. There are a minimum set of basic principles on which a vast majority of Hindus agree. Saving the cow is one of them. Even then, I am willing for a referendum on the case. Not as a legally binding ban, but whether it is the duty of a Hindu or not. If the answer is negative, I will hold my calm and accept the verdict. Hinduism has a history of evolving anyway. For good or worse, time will tell.

What BJP will be left with won't secure them anything more than what they got for most part of the history of Indian parliament. BJP came to power twice in its entire history, and both the time they were assisted by the 1. spectacular failure of the ruling government, 2. leadership crisis in the opposition camp, and 3. personal charisma of couple of BJP leaders, Vajpayeeji and Narendra Modi. RSS never own any election for BJP, so they should stop riding on the back of BJP as free-loaders. If RSS wants to dictate terms for the government, they should contest the election and win it on their own first instead of claiming others victory as theirs.

Again, you are trying to decide who are true Hindus and who are not. You don't get to do that in Hinduism. In many parts of India a puja of shakti won't be complete without sacrifice of a buffalo or goat and distributing its meat as prasad, while some Hindus in other parts of the country are vegetarians. Further, a cow might get certain importance in Hinduism, but bulls, bullocks and buffaloes don't have such privileges, gau pitas are not so lucky, they are not even 'gau's, only females of their species get that status. So why ban the slaughter of bulls and bullocks?

BJP might have big numbers today, but the ground is slippery, a mere 4%-5% change of votes can change fortunes drastically.
1. BJP won't stay in power. Their coming to power is a fluke. Nothing else. India is destined to be ruled by foreigners or desi foreigners. We have 'lost our soul' to quote Vivekananda*.

2. I am deciding who's Hindu and who's not. And I don't oppose those who wish to be non vegetarian. I am against only cow slaughter. Nothing else.

3. BJP is not going to stay. This is my personal opinion. The Hindu vote is what has kept it together. Trust me on this. It's not due to the reformist pundits. Even they will move away from time to time over to greener pastures. Centuries old suicidal tendency...perhaps.

*I know what he said about cow slaughter.

Oh!
Coward like us?
Talk for yourself Mr. Sarthak Ganguly (for whatever reason you picked up your professor's name).
And if HE ...that guy's words 're the touchstone for hindus then i know which way our religion is headed. Some ppl love putting on blinders!!!
Nothing like that. But cow meat is not food. Not in India. Like it or leave it.
As for Hinduism....it does not exist anyway.

You do not have to feel low after hearing the clamor of fools. Loud noises do not make up for lack of wisdom.

Guidance of the blind man can only lead the blind astray. Those who can see and all those who are not blinded by arrogance or hubris will stay clear of that path.

When greed and debauchery is the primary virtue and when it it disguised as "freedom" and when they pretend that it comes from no responsibility, then such happiness is short lived. Majority of Hindus in Kerala live in servitude to the christians and muslims, in Kerla or outside Kerala, yet the boast of "Freedom".

It is hilarious if it was not so damn pathetic.

It is a society where women are afraid to step out after 6 PM, where 74% of the children consume tobacco and 10% of men are confirmed alcoholics.

It is a state which has the highest percentage of cancer patients in India. Most of it due to food habits. In Kerala 27 percent men and 19 percent women have diabetes. Kerala has highest crim against women.

In the midst of all this, they are celebrating eating beef  .......... they are celebrating destruction of their way of life, their physical health, their mental health and their spiritual health.

Their karma has finally guided them to their destiny.

There is a famous saying in Tamil Nadu only two people went on to loose their dresses for Tamil people one is Ghandhi and another is Namitha...and apparently they both are Gujrathi....

Wow. The level of debate with you is just outstanding  ..............how wonderful when you can substitute logic and reasoning with cuss words and opinions :P
Why? Don't you think "BS" is the most logical reply for your argument quoted below? :cheesy:

Its the caste system in Hinduism that prevented Islam from converting ALL of India into muslims. It was the caste which was the most effective barrier against conversion. Both by the British and by the islamic invaders.

Otherwise India too would have been like Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Indonesia, pakistan etc.

Hmmm......I was given an impression here that Hinduism is heading for an inimical and bloody division among two major sects; 'Chandals' and 'Chaddis', in the line of Catholics & Protestants or Sunnis & Shias, beef-eating Hindus were to become the 'Ahmedias' of Hinduism.

And I am saying that this duty should not extend to the atheists, non-Hindus, or anybody who simply don't want to follow it strictly. You cannot force anybody to follow your religious beliefs. If Hindutavadis are so strict about it, then first they should stop going to foreign countries where beef is served, as they cannot follow their 'duty' there.

Second, they should stop criticizing extremists of other religions, especially Islam, for their acts, Charlie Hebdo killers were doing their 'duty', no?

No hypocrisy please.

You are against cow slaughter, and @HariPrasad was against non-vegetarian Hindus, I guess purifying Hinduism is coming in installments. :undecided:

See, all I am saying is that "I don't do it because it is prohibited in my religion" is fine, but "I will not allow anybody else to do it because it is prohibited in my religion" is 'radicalism', you can also consider the terms 'fascism' or 'mullahism' for this attitude.

We have heard similar argument and similar dictate from some other people in the past, one wanted to purify his country 70 years ago, and today some 'organizations' want to purify the whole world.

and who is the origin of this saying?? some lawyer who a decade ago was furiously launching cases against actresses for "portraying obscenity on-screen"?? quite a few tamil nadu lawyers bullt their careers that way.

This topic was debated in detail in earlier threads. Especially how creation of Dalit's/out castes and social pressure prevented conversion among Hindus and helped them stay true to their faith. But your ignorance is covered by your reply, so BS sums you up quite nicely. :coffee:

Two simple points. I don't care about what Hari or Tom has to say about vegetarianism. Preventing Cow slaughter is my duty. I may fail in it. But I will try it.

1. Hinduism is not going to get in such a clash. I am for banning cow meat. Not for religion, but for faith. If that makes me a mullah, I am okay with that tag. For all these years beef was allowed to varying degrees in Maharashtra. I never called the policy radical or fascist.

2. Purification is a goal that everyone should have had. Our nation's motto should be to attain Moksha. I don't care about Islam in the ME, nor about Christianity in the the Vatican. I only care about my faith in my country. Of course people will oppose me. If views of Hindus don't stand, they will perish. Simple.

We have heard similar argument and similar dictate from some other people in the past, one wanted to purify his country 70 years ago, and today some 'organizations' want to purify the whole world.
There are some fundamental points on which I am not able to compromise. Being against cow slaughter is one of them. You can silence me/us. But that is only by jailing us or by killing us.

Yeah! In those days dalits/out castes were very happy about their 'status' in Hinduism.

Again, BS! :P

Only to make the problem boomerang against us several times in magnitude later... :coffee:
If Hinduism follows that line, it will find itself in a museum.

That is the last line of defence, not the first.

That is the final step before landing in a museum. :coffee:

I don't mind the problems that it will give LATER, as long as there IS A LATER.
