The lesson is that we shouldn't automatically assume that the conclusions of science will contradict religious beliefs. Sometimes they will, sometimes they won't; and even if there is a contradiction, this is not necessarily a cause for alarm, since scientists sometimes revise their conclusions and religious people sometimes revise their interpretations of their scriptures.
In this case, the conclusion these scientists have reached is very much in line with the religious idea that all humans are descended from a small early group of humans i.e. the children and grandchildren of the first couple, peace be upon them.
