Mi-28 For Pakistan - Russia Agrees

Q1: As we are getting Mi-28, we will be getting armament which comes along with the helicopter and that may include anti-tank missiles. Does that mean Russian tanks in India would be targeted by Russian helicopters using Russian anti-tank missiles?

Indeed mate, there is no surprise in it at all, it has happened before and may happen again.

Tough to believe that Indians will not do everything in their power to prevent such a thing, not to mention it may not be something Russians themselves would be too fond of doing.

While I agree with your assessment, Russians will be annoyed by India's getting closer to USA everyday more. India could have called Obama and Putin together and give a more balanced message - but we saw the way it went.

Russia may want to give India a message that what is the cost of deviation it in the favor of new friends.

there is no doubt that mi-28 is a great chopper, but i like the TAI/AgustaWestland T129 more for pakisthan. russia was naver a great weapons supplier for pakisthan. russia may be pakistans new allay , may be not . who no the future.?

When did it happen last-time?

India rejected Mi 28 in place of Ah 64,besides not even a Mi 35 is in Pak inventory as of now and i doubt with $15 billion forex good number of Mi 28 can be bought unless Pak is ready to eat grass.

let see what Modi can do when he visits Russia in may.

News just confirmed that agreement has taken place for Mi-35 for 48 Units so your "doubt" has got its answer already. It is happening.

For Mi-28, Russia has agreed to sell those to Pakistan but number is not finalized. You are welcome to keep your doubts on the deal.

@graphican - I know this is loud thinking but I am stretching the line forward to make few questions.

Yes, probably it would come with strings. Main worried is Mi-28 is high maintenance and repair if necessary, Pakistan doesn't have extensive experiences on Russian helicopters in the past.

Q2: What about our expected JV with Turkey for T-129? Turkish brothers were happy to sign the deal with transfer of technology. How do you see that turning out now?

After purchasing Mi28 from Russia, it doesn't mean T-129 will be over, we desperately need it for different roles.

Q3: Our Chinese brothers are eager to provide Z-10s. Infect 3 of those have been given as gift. Do you see Pakistan operating two platforms at the same time. Is Mi-28 and Z-10s co-operat-able because of serving different purposes?

Yes, we will have Z-10 for different roles, maybe sea.

I hope our dream come true. :enjoy:

I know about the Mi 35 but i ask how many number you have already inducted so far,NONE

so when you will have your entire fleet of MI 35 India would phase out its mi 35 even Vietnam will phase out these obsolete crap.

As far as Mi 28 is concerned again you have only $15 billion so i would call it just a dream like your earlier J 10B even that i am sure Modi would do to stop when he visit Russia

You had to bring India into it rt??. dont worry..it wont be the first time...just like American weapons in India will target American planes and weapons held by Pakistan...

Don't feel burnt mate. There is no American tank in Pakistan's inventory nor India has American anti-tank messiles. India went for spike which is Israeli.

I am not an economist and cannot talk of numbers but our economy is not cursed to stay low. It hugely suffered because of Afghan War and then wave of terrorism in the country and both devastating factors are over. We have few trillion dollar of gold, coal and copper reserves and 200 million strong manpower to contribute towards economy and country building.

You seem jealous and ill-informed. For your info, Chinook were first produced in 1962 and India is still waiting for 15 of those units to get delivered, a technology which is even older by design. (Reference)

How many numbers we have by now? Yes you are right. We currently have none.

A local newspaper has reported that Russia has agreed to supply Pakistan with Mi-28 helicopter gunships. Lets see if this news turns out to be correct.

It says 48 MI 35 that is good thing and I think its true during IDEX 2014 Russia itself offere us MI 28 and 3 different Air Defence Systems so we should hope we go for 60 MI 28 and also lot of batteries of Air Defence systems

Reality check:
1) Modi can't stop this sale unfortunately. There's an agreement between India and the Russians. Each side will follow its own national interests. India is hugging the US. Russia will hug a few other they think will give them a few billions long term. So both the countries are looking beyond each other. I call this an "open relationship" lol

2) No doubt when Pakistan will get these MI-35's, India may be getting ready to retire them. But you are missing the point.....these aren't for India - Pakistan theater specifically. The current goal is to use these in FATA. Well, for the terrorists in FATA, these will serve as Tech from Mars to these terrorists who use old school weapons. If these were to ever be used in Indo-Pak theater, no matter how old they are, they'll still be able to carry troops and fly with weapons. Older age doesn't mean a machine quits working, its just that there may be newer tech out there which may be better.

We know How to make the deal and get them good number

Newspaper has given two news bits.

1- Number of Mi35 = 48 units and the deal is finalized.
2- Russia has agreed to provide Mi-28 helicopters to Pakistan but number is not mentioned.

Mi-28 is a beat.

And this is happening, Pakistan will be receiving Russian laser guided, air-to-ground and air-to-air armament mounted on these machines. o_O Yeaa? And does that mean a strategic shift in Russia's Asian doctrine?

China is also providing us their top-notch Z-10s. (News Resource) however, if Pakistan is procuring 36-48 of Mi-28, it may not need Z-10s anymore. SO what does that mean? Russia will be the primary supplier of our helicopter fleet! And that also mean Pakistan would be getting some 2-3 billion dollars of equipment from Russia.
Z10 acquisition should proceed. Military relationship with Russia will take sometime to mature.

there is no jealousy i asked you the relevant question regarding your economy in mind sorry if you felt that way, you have always access to high tech military equipment earlier it was U.S.A so its nothing new for us.

moreover India and Russia signed agreement worth $100 billion so i doubt that Russia would give preference Pak over India.

How can Pakistan get 48 Mi-35 until Russia retired 48 units?
