Remove 'Secular' and 'Socialist' words from preamble of Constitution, says Shiv Sena

NEW DELHI: One of the key constituents in the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) - Shiv Sena on Wednesday demanded the removal of two vital words 'Secular' and 'Socialist' from the Indian Constitution.

A controversy erupted after a Republic Day advertisement issued by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry carried a picture of the Preamble to the Constitution as it appeared before the 42nd Amendment, without the words 'secular' and 'socialist'.

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said, "If printing old preamble is by mistake then it should happen regularly. India was never a secular country. It is a Hindu rashtra."

"These words were never there in the preamble. Government should remove these words from the preamble now," the senior Sena leader demanded in Mumbai.

even i want it to be removed as there is no secularism but only minority appeasement in this country....
but since, secularism is one of the main basic structure stone in our constitution, hence can't be removed, any such action even if passes by parliament and signed by president will be stated as null and void by supreme court under its power of judicial review...

shiv sena wants so many things.so what?....but never gonna to happen..

Don't worry the hindu nationalist apologists will be all over this thread. Shiv Sena reminds of Jamat e Islami, both evil, both using religion to play with peoples emotions and creating hatred.

Legitimate demand indeed.

@Spring Onion Welcome back!!!!!!!!

Sena trolling again.

whats wrong with that ?

India was and is a Hindu rashtra. Majority should be given their due status

The similarity in opinions from Sena and by "some" nationalities is a clear indication as to whats good for the nation.

You are consistent, if anything.

I remember you rooting for the BJP to come into power for exactly the same. :enjoy:

:D i honestly stand by them viz a viz this demand since long. will be happy if they materialize it

Whether the word secular remains on the preamble or not is irrelevant, India will always be a secular nation because the constitution mandates that. It is now deemed part of the basic structure of the constitution that cannot be touched.

India will always be a secular nation because the constitution mandates that.

India will always be a secular nation because Indian Hindus want it to be a secular nation.

If they did not, the Constitution you and I hold dear today, would not have lasted beyond 1950.

Look West.

And that was on the anticipation of wide spread genocides, crimes, downslide of economy, tainted relationships with countries like US, Russia, China, chaos, political stalemates, rising of armed Hindu militants etc.

But what they saw was exact opposite.

Hence the large number of threads on Modi, personal attacks on him etc etc in this place.

Its hope thats the last hope for that hope they were hoping.
