Kashmir issue: PM Nawaz accuses India of inflexibility!

MUZAFFARABAD: After Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s speech on Kashmir in UN ruffled feathers in India, the premier blamed the neighbour for having an inflexible approach towards the longstanding issue, Express News reported on Thursday.

Speaking at a meeting of Azad and Jammu Kashmir Council in Muzaffarabad, the prime minister said that he will consult Hurriyat leaders prior to entering negotiations with India.

Calling for a peaceful resolution of the dispute, PM Nawaz reiterated that all issues should be resolved through negotiations and without the use of force.

“During recent ceasefire violations along the Line of Control, many have been hurt and have suffered; we do not need to use power.” PM Nawaz stressed.

Vowing to continue efforts for the Kashmir cause, the prime minister urged the international community to help Pakistan in its attempts to enter talks with India.

“Pakistan has always kept Kashmir issue at the forefront in all world peace forums,” Nawaz added.

Shunning Indian accusations related to Pakistan harbouring militants in the country, the premier said it was a lie that Pakistan was providing sanctuaries to anti-India elements,

“India has a propaganda against us that we are harbouring terrorists in order to cover up their wrong doings in Kashmir,” he said, adding that Pakistan itself was a victim of terrorism and was doing everything to eliminate it.

First PM Nawaz Sharif should consolidate his power and show inflexibility.Then talk to us about inflexibility.
There was a time where Indias foreign policy was soley based on Kashmir.That era is long gone but it seems Pakistan is still trapped in timewarp.
Focus on your economic stability and domestic security.Then other nation will give importance to your words.

India was flexible about two decades ago .Pakistan took maximum advantage of it .But that good times are gone once and for all Mr .Nawaz .
Now India can inflexible because other major powers r dont dare to interfere in our matters not even US or UN.

Yes Nawaz sahab is right. India is being inflexible. There is a new government and it has a different policy.
The earlier government of MMS was extremely flexible vis-a-vis Pakistan. The Indian public saw that this flexible policy did not yield good dividends and therefore have voted for the current government which said that it will pursue a different course. This government is doing exactly what the public demanded from it.
The earlier government could have been helped by Pakistan by giving the MFN as it was promised by both Zardari and NS. But that wasn't to be and the previous government ended up looking like fools for trusting Pakistan. NS also promised that we will give MFN to the new government for which the previous government did a lot of ground work including helping Pakistan get GSP+, but then he got greedy and wanted something else in return. Well he has got a gujju who knows a losing bargain and won't fall for it. As for Kashmir, well NS needs to establish that he is the top dog before any discussions on it, lest another Kargil happens and the establishment pulls out the rug from underneath.
