If a religion says killing is compulsory, then such religion should be outlawed.
Right on. May be it should be rightly called a cult instead of religion.

Also if sacrifice is that important then why go after poor, helpless animals. Sacrifice your own children as Abraham did. Its sickening

doesn't matter… there are 160 million muslims… more then enough to make another country… so its best you treat them kindly.
Make another country of what?2-3 houses in every village?Lol.
Solid treatment of mullahs is required.Which should be done in this government I hope so.

Goat, rabbit, lamb etc. I know that it is not mandatory.

Could you please tell me. If people in India wear belts carry purse or wallet. Do u wear shoes or all are no go,cause the leather could be made out of cow hide.

People do sacrifice goats or lambs , but not enough meat to share. Meat is shared between neighbours family and friends. I don't really like camel meat its a distinctive flavour (I don't speak for every one).

eat any other animal other than cow.

Why should we? Whole world - Muslims, Christians, Jews eat cow. Should they all stop eating beef just because indian/hindus gave special status to an animal; cow. Here is solution for you - why don't you indians give special status to pig/hog and we will be done with this conflict.

hmmmm...

I don't know in which context Indrani is speaking of.

I have to also go through 22 pages of Indo-Pak slug fest.

Could you perhaps clarify your question :)
does indian government regulate the hindu religion and temples?

does indian government regulate the hindu religion and temples?

There are state governmental bodies who regulate temples.

Most of the regulation, like in Kerala for example pertains to the finances of the temples. The revenue created by the temples and the expenditure of it.

other functions include day to day administration of the temples and the maintenance of the temples.

The devaswom boards in Kerala is an example.

here is the link. Devaswom boards in Kerala - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I don't know how much interested the state governments are in interfering with the temple affairs. For a lot of the governmental bodies, temples provide a lucrative source of revenue, and there have been massive amounts of embezzlement, and corruption because of the sheer number of the money involved.

I guess this is where the separation of temple and state becomes confusing. And as i said before, Indian state governments are not particularly interested in dictating terms to the temples, rather dipping their hands in the money.

I don't know about the central government regulating the Hindu religion.

I am not sure on that.

I dont use leather products. Also you are right. That is why we want a ban cow slaughter.

Can't you see? Cow is more widely available so that is why they are being slaughtered more. Plus, it provides more meat and it can be shared by more people and given more to the poor.

But listen, I myself don't eat any kind of red meat at all. And I will tell you exactly why; it is because when I was a child I saw those Qurbani during Eid from the balcony, obviously I felt disgusted... And from then on I never touched or ate beef or mutton or anything you can say that has four legs. I even implored my ammi and mama to stop it, but you can't. But I was a little kid back then. Anyway, my family doesn't force me to eat any kind of red meat nor do I stop them from eating any of them. Just because I don't agree with them, doesn't mean I will try to force my idea on them.

If your religion allows you to sacrifice A then you are completely free to do so. Maybe, it might be a bit offending for some Muslims but since you are a Hindu, so you have the right to do what your religion says and it has nothing to do with us. In our religion, there are things forbidden but we don't stop and nor does it say anywhere that we should stop other people from doing them.

And did you know that this year in Dhaka the hype for Durga puja was really big. Even weeks before the start of puja there were already many news paper and magazine articles about this celebration. But itwas only probably some days ago that the papers started showing news about the Qurbani Eid. But, we didn't object and we don't have any problem with it. People are just going to do what they are going to do. You can't change the World just for your own sake. Better will be to ignore the things you don't like. I'm telling you all, it makes life a whole lot easier to deal with. :agree:

Just follow your faith and believe in your God, you don't have to care what others do.
again. you did not get it. I know you will not understand it. To celebrate something which is not mandatory in ur religion, if you offend mine then so be it.

You can draw whatever you like untill you start disgracing religious figures.

It only questions the comfort level of Muslims in "Secular India".
You can stop them from slaughtering cows in public if you are afraid of it hurting feelings of Hindus but can't force them not to because it hinders their freedom of religious practice.
Practice your religion without offending others. If something is not mandatory, then there is no harm to stop it which is offending others.

Don't put hindu religious flag on someone stake or burger, that only reflects backwardness and extreme views. Mandatory or not is NOT the issue here.

That is the issue here. If it is not mandatory and if it is insulting to others, then everyone must stop it.

..and to prove one's faith in Allah, the true muslim must do it exactly the way it was done ...by sacrificing own son....
..Allah will replace the boy with the goat , if you are true muslim and have FULL faith in him...
Why.do it symbolically and bring harm to another Halal creature.??
