Must Try Foods in Sri Lanka

Most yeah but few are not the same

Like Kokis, Murukku and especially the Sour fish curry (Ambul Thiyal) which is distinctively Sri Lankan.. South coast to be precise
yeah..Murukku is there in Tamilnadu and Karnataka...our achappam looks exactly like that of your kokis..
what 'Thiyal' stands for??

small error...

watalappam-vattappam...

Whoah.. mate.. Wattalappam is a MALAY (South East Asia) inspired desert not a Malayalam one

Just looked it up mate.. Completely different dishes.. Though they sound similar

SL do have Murukku but it's completely different to what Pani walalu which is what Shredder posted.. Kokis is a dutch inspired savoury biscuit (Sinhalized Cookies) and Ambul Thiyal is quite distinctive to the Kerala sour fish curry.. Ambul Thiyal is a dry curry.. I'm not sure about it's meaning of Thiyal though

Also your Paal Kanji is a broth or cereal similar to the Kenda is SL.. On the contrary Kiri Buth or Milk rice are rice cakes.. So there are quite differences there

Thanks Guys...........

I think Keralities & Lankans are have more similar Cuisine.

Watalappam (also called Watalappan or Vatlappam) is a coconut custard pudding made of coconut milk or condensed milk, jaggery, cashew nuts, eggs, and various spices, including cardamom, cloves,[1] and nutmeg. This dessert is very popular in Sri Lanka; especially amongst ethnic Moors and Malays. It is believed to be of Malay origin[1] This dessert is a must for most religious festival days and other social functions and celebrations.
