Pakistan's 32 Nuclear plants to produce 40,000MW

Is this really goona happen...? In this decade..! Don't think so..:(

I've sent some cargo to Pakistan recently. And my experience dealing with Pakistanis in Pakistan tells me I'll wait for these plants to come up, then congratulate you.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is in the process of selecting eight sites for the installation of 32 nuclear power plants, which will generate a total of 40,000 MW electricity, said Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) chairman Dr Ansar Parvez. He did not specify a time frame.

Nuclear Option is the best Alternative for Pakistan's Energy needs. It is steady year round reliable Energy Generator. The issues relating to acquiring Uranium and disposal of used Uranium ( Nuclear waste ) are surmountable and Pakistan has already ironed out some of those issues.

As for the Safety of these Plant's Future installations, they would all be at least Third Generation if not Fourth Generation Reactors which will be many times Safer with Multiple back up Systems.

A roiling energy crisis that has been building up over the last few years, Pakistan’s civil nuclear ambitions have always been stymied by the nexus of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Nuclear Suppliers Group and the US government. Since Pakistan has not signed on to the Non-Proliferation Treaty and the supply of uranium, the basic fuel for generating electricity, is subject to severe global restrictions, historically, Islamabad has had no option but to comply.

So its 4 NPPs per site?

Where are these billions of dollars coming in?

Do you know how much does it cost?

32 Plants or 32 reactors???
Wow....but more importantly ... how will pak manage nuke waste?Thats costly too.

Same way other countries are doing it. I think in this case, volume is not an issue, once you have the right processes in place.

Pakistan have some really good friends on east side, we just dump it on that side of the border and rest will be history ... :)

Was that supposed to be a stupid statement ?

Yes Nuclear waste management is important.

Pakistan currently have 3 commercial nuclear reactors currently operating ,and 8 reactors under construction/proposed.Where did you get 32 reactors figure ?

OK. We accept the nuke waste.
Thanks for speeding up our warhead program.

I must say that nuclear energy is not only clean, but it is also safe, reliable, durable and competitive. Nuclear Energy is a compact, reliable sustainable energy source that reduces carbon emissions and increases energy security. So Yes Nuclear Energy is the solution to energy crisis of Pakistan and this can only be possible by having more nuclear power plants.
