What's new

Saudi Arabia expresses interest in JF-17 co-production with Pakistan.

Should they partner for Block-III, we could have extra funds for R&D which means a much more potent jet.

We could follow the Gripen philosophy only if there are financial resources and a demand for such a variant.

BTW, we could incorporate more technology from J-31 into Block III.

Then let's discuss when actual deal happens and deliveries start. We have seen how the whole Al-Khalid speculation turned out. Mind you it was demonstrated to King Abdullah himself. Therefore, visit/demonstration is not equal to planned deal. As I said before, these are courtesy calls.

KSA can have EJ200.
ok but then this arises more questions like will it fit in her body or will west allow it to be integrated on made in pak-chinese plane

Idk what they're doing. But I know people working there. I can ask them for you.
well i respect u and will not ask u to provide something which is classified......but a little indirect clue will be enough for me to understand/assume.

thank you.

JF-17 Was designed with a modular fusalage in order to house different engines.

EJ-200 is a very powerful engine, and the JFT program director disclosed that its compatible with the JFT in his recent interview with AFM.

Saying that it's speculation and should not be taken seriously is wrong? On the contrary, it is part of the discussion, some think it's a deal, some don't. BTW, I always thought you were one of my fellows. Such speculations when they don't materialise are picked up by our "friendly" neighbours to radicule us later.

Sir with due respect, will Russians allow the engines on jft to be sold to KSA???

Umair, if you remember the Russians initially refused China to sell Russian Engine equipped JF-17 to Pakistan because it had Russian RD-93 because of Indian pressure but later withdrew their objection. The Russians knew that China would still sell to Pakistan with their own engine so they decided to sell.

Russians always like to sell their military hardware to a cash buyer unlike US that sells Military hardware with strings attached. This is why old allies of US ( including Turkey and KSA ) are increasingly turning away from US Military Hardware because there are too many strings attached and the spectacle of " Kill Switches ".

But then the same concern that will the BIG DADDIES of west will allow it on Pak made A/C?

Don't worry, Russia's engine restriction will no longer be a problem for JF-17's future.
