US asks India to close Consulates in Afghanistan

Because we have India on one side of our border thats why.

We dont have any problem if India leave us alone and do not poke its nose in an area which is not at all linked to her in anyway.

On the other hand Iran does have a problem as long as US is trying to exclude it from the trio and the Trio for peace is Afghanistan-Pakistan-Iran.

Nothing is funny about it when the tide is against you, you indeed save your own country just like India did in the case of LTTE.

India did not go out to construct some infra out of any love for Afghans but to Milk Afghanistan for own interests so dont over-excitedly fool the world.

He said Afghanistan's development has to be accorded priority and it's government, neighbours, regional countries, major powers and international organizations needed to act in concert to advance the shared goals. He said Pakistan was prepared to join in efforts with Afghanistan in promoting regional connectivity, strengthening energy cooperation, expanding opportunities for Afghan citizens and enhancing the capacity of Afghan national institutions. He said Pakistan and Afghanistan share faith, folklore, culture, customs and have common roots.

"Our joys and sorrows, our successes and tragedies, intersect and our people are bound by a distinct sense of shared destiny," adding that together both countries could embark the road to deeper trust, greater understanding and intensified cooperation. Gilani said Pakistan was proud to be an active participant in the reconstruction of Afghanistan and added that it had contributed over $ 300 million for this purpose.

He said currently Pakistan was engaged in constructing the 200-bed Jinnah General Hospital and Thalacemia Centre in Kabul, another hospital in Logar and a Kidney Centre in Jalalabad. The Prime Minister also announced to build a hostel for over 1,000 students in Kabul and undertake expansion of the universities of Kabul, Nangarhar and Balkh.

About Pakistan's efforts for the development of Afghanistan, Prime Minister Gilani mentioned the already completed Torkham-Jalalabad highway and said at present, it was engaged in building a parallel carriageway. He said Pakistan had supplied 200 trucks, 100 buses and over 50 ambulances and mobile medical units to Afghanistan and printed 10 million textbooks for Afghan school children, besides supplying school kits, computers, tents, food aid and other essential items.

The Prime Minister announced allocation of 1,000 scholarships for Afghan students. He also proposed setting up model villages for Afghan returnees and plans for promoting skills development through vocational training centres. The Prime Minister said Pakistan would set up a regional Customs Academy in Kabul, extend the railroads up to Afghanistan, and accelerate the projects on infrastructure and energy connectivity.

"These projects are the first incremental steps towards the realization of a futuristic vision for the region," he said. The Prime Minister said, "We have no doubt that this vision is within reach. Through concerted efforts, we will establish integrated and interconnected corridors of trade and transport."

He said Pakistan had also been engaged in capacity building of Afghanistan's state institutions in the fields of diplomacy, law enforcement, judiciary, agriculture, counter narcotics, customs and medical and paramedical services. He said among regional frameworks, Pakistan is a leading participant in ECO's endeavors for the reconstruction of Afghanistan.

Gilani referred to his meeting with President Karzai in August last in Colombo, where the two democratic governments agreed to jointly brought about a fundamental transformation in bilateral relationship. He mentioned that jirga process had been revived in line with the aspirations of the people of the two countries. The Prime Minister hoped that Afghan refugees would return home with dignity and honour and be rehabilitated at their own motherland safely. He said the struggle against terrorism was a struggle for a profound vision for a better tomorrow.

"It is a struggle for hearts and minds, one in which dialogue and development must be the most potent tools," he said. PM Gilani said after long years of conflict and suffering, people of Afghanistan and the region deserve security and stability. "They deserve stronger institutions, effective governance, respite from narco trade, meaningful reconstruction and sustainable economic development and they deserve a healing process, he added. Gilani said the regional dimension of Afghanistan's development strategy warrants closer attention.

School textbooks is one area in which Pakistan's pernicious influence is best avoided.
Pakistan: Do school texts fuel bias? | csmonitor.com

"My 7-year-old came home from school one day insisting that Indians are our natural-born enemies, that Muslims are good, and Hindus are evil," the widely traveled journalist recalls. "He asked about the relative strength of our air forces and insisted we would win if it came to war.

hello don't twist Facts, a kid when he/she will learn history of Three wars fought will automatically like to ask his/her elders about these wars & whether we are better or them whats wrong in it, a Kid without curiosity a dumb kid, when u first knew about new thing about u never asked people about it??? whats wrong with it....

School text books within Pakistan instill hate towards India within the very roots of Pakistan.
Have u read any of Pak text books??

I think we are not short of colleges for high end programs like engg and all. Already we have so many colleges within UP which go half empty with no one to take admissions. We can have afghans here for the education program. Anyways quality of Indian education system is considered one of the best in the world.

U think Afghans in Pak are not getting any Education, there are a lot afghans in Universities in Isloo, even Hamid Karzai got education from Isloo btw educate ur masses first in India If one can write his/her name correctly in any language is considered to be educated or literate, this is how much of ur literacy rate is formed... After a long time u ppl have thought about ur Afghan Bros, where were u ppl when Soviets butchered them or how many Refugees u ppl have accommodated, Indians must not turn Afgh into a proxy war ground..

Not have actually read them but read lot about them and not from Indian sources definetly.

Indian literacy rate is 66% and youth literacy rate is 82% within India which is far beyond then that of Pakistan which is in 50s still. I was talking about the high end education like engg. In Indian engg colleges seats are vacant in engg colleges with no one to take admission.... in NCR and delhi region. I think we have the highest no of engg colleges then anywhere.

Are we talking history here. We find Afghanistan in our interest today so we are investing over there. There are always equations of profit and loss. we have the better infrastructure for education for foreign students within India with some of the world class universities which have very high rankings. No one is comparing them with that of Pakistan. Did I say no one is studying in pakistan.

The only problem is the baised education which Pakistan education system offers on hating India and history where a majority of the sections of history has been chopped off.

Got ya, don't say me that ur Source is ToI which is absolutely worked up with the idea of Pak...

These figures are based on the norms of Unesco

Literacy as defined by UNESCO is given below. [8]

1. A literate person is one who can with understanding both read and write a short simple statement relevant to his everyday life.
2. Literacy is not the simple reading of a word or a set of associated symbols and sounds, but an act of critical understanding of men's situation in the world.
3. Literacy is not an end in itself but a means of personal liberation and development and extending individuals educational efforts involving overall inter-disciplinary responses to concrete problems
4. A literate person is one who has acquired all the essential knowledge and skills which enable him to engage in all those activities in which literacy is required for effective functioning in his group and community and whose attaining in reading, writing and numeracy make it possible to use these skills towards his own and his community's development.

The National Literacy Mission defines literacy as acquiring the skills of reading, writing and arithmetic and the ability to apply them to one's day-to-day life. The achievement of functional literacy implies:

* Self-reliance in 3 R's
* Becoming aware of the causes of deprivation and moving towards amelioration of their condition by participating in the process of development
* Acquiring skills to improve their economic status and general well being
* Imbibing values of national integration, conservation of environment, women's equality, observance of small family norms, etc.

The working definition of literacy in the Indian census since 1991 is as follows:[9]

* "Literacy rate":

The total percentage of the population of an area at a particular time aged seven years or above who can read and write with understanding. Here the denominator is the population aged seven years or more.

* "Crude literacy rate":

The total percentage of the people of an area at a particular time aged seven years or above who can read and write with understanding, taking the total population of the area (including below seven years of age) as the denominator.

Forget IIT and IIM.

Name one university equivalent to following
AMU(Aligarh Muslim University)
30,000 students(mainly Muslims)
100 years free electricity
chancellor as president of India
Doctorate @ 15 to 20,000 only

UPTECH
230 engineering colleges within UP
Forget about management and other courses.

XLRI
Admission to the flagship programs is through XLRI's entrance test - (XAT[1]). XAT scores may also be used for applying to other XAT affiliated B-schools. XAT 2008 had more than 89000 applicants. XLRI has about 240 seats in its two-year flagship programs - Business Management & PMIR and 120 seats in the one-year General Management Program.

XLRI began offering the Executive Programme in Dubai in collaboration with the Al Abbas Institute of Technology from October 2001. A new chapter was set up in Singapore in March 2006 in alliance with Image International.

Anna university
Anna University, Chennai turns out over 65,000 engineering graduates every year. The university has over 3,800 Ph.D. scholars registered in its various departments of the university and in affiliated engineering colleges in the state and approved R&D organizations.

Anna University, Chennai has conducted university examinations with the assistance of 10 zonal centers since 2002. You are contradicting yourself. India has 1+ billion people and, according to you, the best education system, yet it can't produce enough people to fill its own technical colleges.

In any case, what the Afghans need is basic high school level education. Pakistan is providing that service in Afghanistan, and to 2 million Afghan refugees in Pakistan.

Moreover, Pakistan is spending $300 million in Afghanistan. India, with a 7x larger economy is only spending 4x as much ($1.2 billion). Why is India being so stingy?

The only problem is the baised education which Pakistan education system offers on hating India and history where a majority of the sections of history has been chopped off.

Every country's education system teaches it's version of history to make itself look good at the expense of its enemies. India does the same, whether you admit/realize it or not.

It shows we have a healthy, self-critical and self-correcting system.

Unlike Indian schools, which churn out generations of jingoistic robots, brainwashed with false, revisionist history, which is not accepted by the rest of the world.

Actually we know our Aukat so we do not go for competing Pakistan? Our primary concerns are within India then we go for Muslim or whatever brotherhood.

Nopes in India we are not taught to avenge for 1962 or something like we won 1965. Nor we are taught Muslims are evil

Do me a favor please

Now if you multiply the number with the amount of funds needed for catering one student you will get your answer. Divide it with the population with the respective countries to get a better insight. I already did it before so just avoiding it right now. The figures were in India's favor.
