What's new

What is your idea about the possibility of secularism in Iran?

In my opinion, the first step in soft change will start just when the government focuses more on inside problems. To how extent do you think the fate of Asad could change the future of Iran?

I guess Iran wants to be more like Azerbaijan haha

If we wanted to adapt the worst way of secularism, a secular dictatorship, we will call you.

We are talking about a secular democracy here. Not secular alone.

I don't think very much.It may weaken Iran, but we can't surly say it changes Iran's domestic policies. But as you know, future is totally unpredictable.Even if Assad doesn't fall, we may see some total change.who knows?

we may see some total change. who knows?

Are you aware of journalists, arrested in Iran nowadays? Every newspaper had talked about fair election is invaded by government. Do you remember "change stopper things" in a thread we have had about election?

Don't even talk about government. It is so messed up that we can't argue any of its aspects.

I didn't get that stopper things.What's that?

The thread is about the government! :meeting:

You was talking how good was the performance of Khatami government, I said "I do not see that coming again, change stopper things will happen!"

I meant the violations of laws that government has done is so high that we can't come close to it, not that you don't have the right to talk about it.:P

I remembered. Change can not be stopped, or it will get out of control soon, and they know it better than me and you. I Hope

Most of people conclude in this term: "While secularism will help Iran, only a soft change from current situation is beneficial."

In my opinion, there are some incidents in the world which could affect this:

1- Ahmadinejad, the unpredictable!
2- The limited foreign policy
3- The growth of economical problems in Iran
4- Al-Asad and his fate
5- Internal political conflicts
6- The Iranian nuclear program and possible alternatives
7- your suggestions

From this moment with a priority on "soft change" all incoming posts are welcomed.

It seems, this time there is the opportunity that all off-topic posts will be treated.

I am very worry about the consequences of third variable!

And that means another Egypt, I think!

What is gonna change if another Ahmadi-N is coming?

I don't think another Ahmadinejad is coming. As I said, they know better a clone of Ahmadinejad will make people even more angry.I'm sure someone is coming to handle, at least a part of the economic crisis that has happened. It's in everyone's interests.A person with some economic knowledge, a strong foreign policy and a reformer! They better let someone like this come or everything will just get worse.

They won't let a reformist run the country. No way. They are going to pick someone like Larijani, but noway anyone like Mousavi. They think they need a tough leader, considering the nuclear negotiations, war-threats, etc.

As for reformer, I'm not necessarily talking about Reformist bloc, but someone who can do reforms!
Someone like Qalibaf. He has shown strong management as the mayor of Tehran and he is quite popular, at least in Tehran. I don't know if he can do the same as a president. But let's just sit and hope he or some other folk can do some real change in economic situation. It's the most important priority now.

Well, let's hope indeed, but I don't think the regime is sharing the same hope.

Yeah right.

And Azerbaijan is secular in its nature, its not something related to the government.
