Yes he was. he advocated formation of Hindu Suicide squads to take on Muslims in India


He advocated protests against western culture too. shiv sainaiks launched such protests

He and his supporters advocated hateful drives against FM Hussain.

His followers spread hate against non-Marathis

I wasn't without cable TV. And I have lived here when the official name was Bombay and when the official name has been Mumbai. The Mumbaification of Bombay killed this city's soul.

Bombay was a artificial creation which did not have the flavour of the soil. Some page 3 celebrities and gentry does not constitute Mumbai. The average Mumbaikar constitute it. And yesterday it was clear to me.

I wont even equate Zaid Hamid to "wind passed" by Bal Thackeray.

Bal Thackeray last journey to the cremation ground brought 2milion of his loyal supporters to pay respect to his dead body that's the kind of charisma the man held. No wonder he got full state honors at his funerals.

It cuts both ways - you think without him it could have been as bad as Karachi. I think it would have been as open and as cosmopolitan in its outlook as New York.

Yes cosmopolitan and broad in its outlook in Colaba and few isolated pockets with 12 ft walled compounds with CCTV cameras. Safety and security of life is the most important thing and everything come after that. I can go out at 3 in the morning today and come home unscathed that would be almost impossible in few other "cosmopolitan" cities like Delhi. And as such Mumbai is not that bad in its cosmopolitan nature.

well with the death of Bal thackrey the Shiv sena has considreably weakened! due to the fact that no true leader remains! the MNS won't merge with Shiv sena & even if it does it will lead to a power struggle between cousins weaking the cause of shiv sena.
