What's new

Are you married to your first cousin?

We cant marry our cousins...it is consider sin.....:drag:

Arjun was married to his cousin Subhadra.

Prithvi Raj Chuhan was married to his cousin Sanyukta.

Gautama Buddha was married to his cousin Yasodhara.

Abhimanyu was married to his cousin Vatsala.

South India is full of first cousin marriages instituted by Hindus. same with Muslims.

heck, Tamils, they marry sister's daughter AFAIK. Britishers abolished Sati and Thuggery. but, failed to interfere with Hindu customs may be fearing repercussions. otherwise, these type of tribal religious practices and cousin marriages must be punishable.

I thing, India must put a law like "marriages up to 5 generations from the same family must be considered incest and unnatural".
Inbreds tends to be violent and cognically impaired, true?

what the hell.

cousin girls are na mehram for us and as inaccessible as any other girl out there..
so we dont have same perception of cousin girls as you guys.
the keyword in "namehram"

What does it mean.

I think he means father's/mother's sister's daughter :)

it is like, brother marrying elder sister's daughter(uncle marrying niece). they are pretty tribal with these type of practices. it is followed in parts of andhra and karnataka also. Union Government is reluctant to See this tribalism in South India and eastern states with these type of incest marriages. these Tamils and Telgo are so accustomed with this practice that they are not aware that this is incest!.

it is glorified and praised by their(tamil) movie industry:
atha(sister) maga(daughter) = sister's daughter? see the numerous results for a simple google search. GoI must stop this tribalism. illegal, immoral and medieval.

atha maga - Google Search.

Here in Denmark it is not allowed to marry or have children with your cousin. However, you can apply for permission and it will often be given if it is not too creepy or an arranged marriage.

What does it mean.

As per Shariah, a Mahram is anyone a Muslim is not allowed to marry and consequently engage in intercourse as it would be considered, from an Islamic point of view, incestuous. This is assuming of course that the said person has reached the age of puberty and belongs to the opposite gender. Perhaps this will make it clearer : Mahram - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Obviously genius. Hinduism is mere mythology and just pointing out the fact what hindus believe in.
Wife swapping and sharing wife with brothers is norm in not only indian cultural but also part of hindu religion.

So be it as if your say really matters.

neither are, only thing is the wife can marry the husband's brother if the husband vanishes.
