Russia-Ukraine War - News and Developments PART 2

Interesting. Reading a not so confirmed report yesterday that the Swede are sending this in their next Aid Package to Ukraine

The Swede was debating whether or not send the Archer Artillery System to Ukraine, and the report was done in Oct last year saying Sweden CAN send 12 archer system to Ukraine as part of aid package and in this Article they are saying Sweden WILL send them with the next aid package.

Archer is EXTREMELY MOBILE system, as the demo show, the system is entirely self contained and they could fire 3 rounds and evade before the 1st round hit the target at max range (55 km). 12 of these would mean 36 rounds will impact on the Russian when the system already moved on.

It would be great for Ukraine if this is indeed true.
It is under discussion, and has been under discussion for 6-9 months.
The previous government was against shipping Archers due to the very limited numbers available. The new government elected in September are more positive, but so far, the aid packages has not included Archer.
The Prime Minister stated Sunday that he is ”convinced Sweden will deliver Archer to Ukraine”, but the decision is made in the Parliament, and it is unclear if there is a majority for such a decision.

This is beautiful weapon system. Funny that Sweden who hasn’t seen combat for years has some of the best military equipment.
Make that ”centuries”. Last war was 1814.
400 years of experience…

I cant see Estonia invading Belarus. That would cause russia to come to the aid of Belarus and fight anyone attacking Belarus.

Honestly, do you think Russia have any combat power left after Ukraine??

Russia already knee deep in Ukraine, any "Aid" to Belarus would most likely just lip service. Either that or they choose to disengage completely in Ukraine and then help Belarus if Poland or Baltics do attack

But as I said, that is very unlikely, but that put Belarus in Alert that's mostly the reason why they weren't directly engage in this war.
The wont face any threat from the polish border. So its not that dangerous. If I was Poland would joint the war if Russians did that.

It's not about threat, it's about the direction of advance, the borderline is RUSSIA CANNOT DRIFT INTO POLISH BORDER. Which make everything, from their advance to the following log train under threat from Ukrainian Artillery.

Because unless you can invade a frontline wise advance, the size of Russian advance along Polish-Ukrainian border will be narrow and long, that's what we call artillerymen heaven. Imagine that 40mile convoy, instead in the north in Belarus where Ukrainian can't touch, it's deep inside Ukrainian territories where they had probably positioned tens of Artillery Regiment in the area. That will make mincemeat from the Russian......

It isn't just tanks. Its spares and ammunition and field workshops for maintenance and repair. Currently, Ukraine is using the same equipment as the Russians so everything is well understood and all components interchangeable. The tanks Challengers and leopards is a very different beast altogether. Tanks need a lot of support behind the lines and without substantial logistical back up they will only last a couple of weeks in the field

That is why the preferred solution is Leopards as the logstic chain for that can be easily built up in Ukraine. I do think Germany is making a poor decision here as most of the EU countries that have bought Leopards wont be buying further versions and new tanks from Germany as Germany is simply not a reliable "security partner".

What insane about Russia is they still uses mass infantry charges in this day and age. Don't get me wrong I love seeing dead russians. But you gotta wonder is the one in charge of their military/mercenaries is either stupid or retarded. So don't try to use common sense against this people.

If putin wants to invade from the north expects a lot of would be dead russians pouring down from belarus.

How do I decides that someone is an irredeemable piece of shit is asking them what are their thoughts of the genocide in yugoslavia. This also apply to other genocide.

I seriously doubt he will do it in the north again, they tried it once and failed at their best circumstance.

But then at the beginning of the war judging by the number of Russian positions I would say invasion is not likely because there are just not enough troop to do what I thought they were sending out to do. But then they still invade. I don't think Russia is operate rationally these day.

utterly crap claim...

were are all the M1´s, CR2´s, Leclerc or Ariete in the Ukraine???????????????????????

Many of the T-72 delivery was only possible because of a ring exchange with Leo2 tanks
Why do all call for Germany if they dont put their Dick themself on the table??????????

Lets see how many european nation have bougth CR2 from UK..... 0... because UK is such a reliable partner...

have you heard the ex General Petraeus saying that Germany should send Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine?

Leopard 2 seems to be the hot cake at the moment. The holy grail tank even.

You are obviously having basic comprehension issues over reading a piece of english text and inferring the semantics of that text.

Let me spell it out for you like a baby.

- Abrahams have massive logistical chains and fuel consumption that Ukraine will find difficult to sustain in an operational theatre.
- There were never that many challengers built - only UK and Oman bought them (they were not as good as the Leopard 2's as an overall solution .. ).
- There close to 10x more Leopard 2's in Europe than Challenger tanks.. ( over 3,600 built globally ). Hell - even Canada has them and they dont need them !!!! 16 countries in Europe have them..

You understand those three points ? Please re-read until you do ..

THEN - using a bit of "logic" - wouldn't the tank we want to provide to Ukraine be :

a) the largest number by type ( Leopards ) in Europe that is the easiest to provide to Ukraine ?
b) Easy to maintain (Leopards use nice maintainable diesel engines ) and support locally ????

Many saying this even in Germany they say it... but were are the others?
there are far more M1 in the world than Leo2... and the US Marine Corp wanna get rid of them anyhow... why we dont see them already in the Ukraine ?
UK has nearly 160 to 170 unused CR2... why are they not already in the Ukraine figthing... they wanna deliver 10... wow

you cant just take a T-64, T-72 or T-80 tanker put them in a Leo2 A4, A5 or higher and think they can extract the little advantages of the Leo2 that can make the different on the battlefield whithout intensive time eating training.... if you just put crews inside and send them figthing the way they use their current equipment we will see many destroyed Leo2 (or any other western delivered MBT) on the battlefield... key is the crews need to know the equipment from a to z, what it is realy capable of and how to use it to their advantage.
No offence against Ukraine tankers... but their performance during NATO Strong European tank challenge was two times nothing to be proud of... they were far away from the best.

time to update ur "knowlege"

the M1 fuel consumption was upgraded a lot over the last two decades... today its about the same as the Leo2

The leopard is a maintenance friendly tank vis a vis M1. 👇 👇

The easiest way is to take all the warsaw tanks across europe rusting away in the fields. bring them into use and send those to Ukraine because they will be tanks the Ukrainian's will be used to. Wasting quality products is a waste.

That’s propaganda. they are not “peacekeepers”. they are Russia’s 14th army corps. They occupy large part of Moldavia. They can attack Ukraine’s weak flank at any moment.
a whole 2,000 of them? youre very optimistic

Ok 2,000 men army cannot harmlos much but you don’t know what Putin has in mind. He runs amok everywhere. The troops there are parts of 14th Russia army. Putin can pump it full with recruits, rapists and mercenaries to 50,000 or more. Arming them with weapons is not a problem. They have the largest ammo depot in Europe: 20,000 tons of materials stored in Transinien.
If anything the Russians are good at making weapons. Even in low quality, good enough to kill people.

More musical chairs in the leadership for the war in ukraine. It seems the Iranian drone led strategy has failed to produce results - which was his brain child - so out he goes ...

>> ps - i am waiting for the upcoming gun fight between the wagner boys and the russian army over their struggle for the glory trophy run in ukraine ;) ...

The USA Standard Operating Procedure of the Ukraine War is when Ukraine looks like it is losing. Have the UK/US troll army blame Germany for not allowing Ukraine have 200-500 tanks, that would be destroyed by Russia in target practice. Germany and EU NEED their tanks. US does not need their tanks. China is not invading the USA. Russia is invading Europe. The Standard Operating Procedure is US takes "credit" when Ukraine wins because Ukraine has 20 HIMARS. And when Ukraine loses, blame EU nations for not sending enough arms. HIMARS are planned to retire. Sending hundreds of HIMARS would turn the tide of battle. Germany and Poland need their tanks. Spain does not, Spain is at no risk of Russian invasion. Germany should call the bluff and allow Spain to give their tanks to Ukraine. When these 200 tanks do not turn the tide of battle. Please blame the Americans for not giving Ukraine thousands of Bradleys and thousands of other heavy weapons in storage that would turn the tide of battle for Ukraine.

US/UK trolls: Blame Germany for Ukraine losing.

UK/US trolls: USA is "saviour of Europe" with 20 HIMARS and soon 50 Bradleys.

Ignore the US/UK troll agenda.

better explanation

Rob Lee, a military analyst at King’s College London, said General Surovikin’s demotion can be explained in part as an attempt to curtail his growing influence in the Kremlin.

“As a unified commander in Ukraine, Surovikin became very powerful and probably bypassed Shoigu and Gerasimov when speaking to Putin,” Mr Lee said on Twitter.

He added that raising General Gerasimov to command the Ukraine operation could also be a “response to Wagner’s increasingly influential and public role in the war.”

Problem with sending Challenger 2s from the UK is they’d need the main gun changing as it’s the only 120mm in NATO with a rifled barrel to enable it to fire HESH ammunition.

Unless it’s changed over to a Rheinmetall L55 smoothbore like other NATO tanks they will have additional problems with logistics and supply of ammunition. Most factories that produce 120mm rounds for a rifled tank gun no longer exist.
