International Tea Day: Pakistan is the World's Largest Tea Importer

Whilst we are on the subject of teas - does anyone else’s family make herbal tea? In our family we have a herbal recipe of making tea using the stem leaves of shahtoot (mulberry) and sage.

It’s very good for your chest and caffeine free.

As I wrote elsewhere, there is no point guessing. We are animals designed by evolution. All we have to do is to look around in the natural world to see what evolution prefers.

You are just waffling.

Must make it, thanks. What is sage called in Hindi / Urdu ?

Some years ago I used to get packs which contained strawberry tea and jasmine tea from Twinings IIRC which would be in teabags. These teas shouldn't be used with milk because the milk will curdle almost immediately. I would boil with two teabags instead of one. Also, there is a small but well-known tea room chain in my city and there I once had a Japanese herbal tea. Bland I must say despite sugar.

Tea/coffee is alien to our eco system and are partially responsible for wrecking havoc on our immune system besides those bastardised nutritional options like fizzy drinks and junk foods -----. I however started using unab , bari ilachi and khushk Podina kahva on my physician's advice

Sage is known as Sathi in Urdu, Punjabi and Hindi. Most herbal teas are taken without milk - with the exception of Japanese matcha - which can be drunk with milk.

As a rule you never add honey or sugar in our herbal tea - this recipe has been in our family for 8 generations. I hope you enjoy it.

Mostly. :D

I am entirely innocent, WotTen started it !

No, it is the preference of any male not given to being brainwashed by artificial social fashions.

Wrong. The female naturally has more fat content and plumper than the male. Most males. Physical dexterity has nothing to do with being thin and "fit". I would say a thin and "fit" female would more likely drop from exhaustion due to loss of blood, fat content and energy than a natural-looking aesthetically-pleasing female.

Wrong comparisons to use with me :D :

What !
Iska chai se kya sambandh hai ?
Female physique ka chai se kya relation hai ?

I love teas - I mix my own blend of herbal teas - a tradition I learned from my grandmother who was a hakeem.

Sage is called rishi in Hindi

Oh, WotTen started about tea being good for the "obesity problem" so I informed him about the wrongness of his beliefs in this regard.

Sage is called rishi in Hindi

Ah, thanks. Though I don't think Rishi is used here in the Deccan. :)

Great choice! I hope your grand mother is still around ----- so ask him what suits your specific mizaj and not just rely on experimentation as it could be hazardous to your health

I have her hand written notes - it’s a family tradition. We also make our own phakki and a special balm using beeswax and camomile.

I see there are regional variances in the name of sage. I didn’t know about it being called rishi- you learn something new on PDF everyday 🙂
Saathi , I understand is a companion .
Rishi is basically a wise person, there have been no rishis in modern times.
7 great rishis or sages are as follows

The fish avatar of vishnu saves the seven main rishis and manu from the great deluge or maha pralay

But do occasionally consult a seasoned hakeem , the kind of fellow who could diagnose with precision right then and there without making you a football between his clinic and the medical lab for various tests and end up aggravating the problem

Yes I concur with this.

Thanks. That must be the general Urdu word. I must ask my mother about its Deccan variation.

Coffee must be banned of course, all these big Indian coffee shop chains like Cafe Coffee Day and Barista being just imitations of American ones but tea is very important. Please read the OP and my post# 34.

Agreed. I don't drink Pepsi, Coca Cola, Thums Up, Sprite, Fanta etc though I do occasionally bring a carbonated zeera juice to help in digestion especially after lunch.

What is unab ? And please link recipes of them.

I asked @RescueRanger about the sage herb and not a sage person, LOL.

BTW Hindu astronomy is derived from Greek astronomy. :)
